OILERMAN
http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120108/SPORTS01/301080040/Mike-Munchak-game-changer-Titans-players-say?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Sports%20Tennessee%20Titans Sounds like Munchak was all business and made some changes with a more strict approach. I can respect some of the stuff he and has done and actually agree with some of the changes. But all this stuff is really meaningless in the end. I heard stuff like this from Mike Singetary and Dave Campo in the past. What really matters is does it translate to on the field success. If you're out there throwing challenge flags like Marvin Lewis the players know the deal, they aren't blind.
ctm
Well, the Titans went from ending 2010 on a 1-8 streak, to 9-7. So I'd say he had some on the field success.
Strait_Shooter
Next year will be a very telling year as to how much the players have "bought in" to what Munch is doing. If this is all true I like the way it is going
code
Nice article. Speaks well for to those of us senior citizens who were taught that there is a right way, a wrong, and one set of rules for all. It also nice to see his focus on communication without secrets. Personally I prefer my leader to tell me straight than to bs with me platitudes.
kyle021
It got way to political with Fisher. Munch has been a breath of fresh air

The big question is how much of that is attributable to Munch and how much is attributable to getting a real QB.
Denali
"On the practice field, the approach was noticeably more serious as well. That also carried over when it came to disciplinary issues. If a player was late to a meeting, he paid for it. No matter the player." That is of course, unless your name is CJ, in which case you get to miss all of training camp entirely. Did CJ get fined? No - he was rewarded with the biggest contract ever. Can you imagine how the players felt when they were fined for being late for meetings that CJ refused to even attend, and yet CJ wasn't punished at all? There, I said it. JLocker10
It got way to political with Fisher. Munch has been a breath of fresh air Agreed, Munch has a lot of humility I think changing the culture takes more than one season like shooter was saying But I think the little things like fines and dressing up are important It might not directly translate to wins and losses, but it's subtle things that go a long way towards establishing the type of culture you want in your team and in your organization...it builds chemistry and I think team chemistry is very important Look no further than NYJ if you want to see what a bad culture and chemistry can lead to
ctm
The big question is how much of that is attributable to Munch and how much is attributable to getting a real QB. Munch made acquiring and developing a QB a priority by signing Hasselbeck and drafting Locker #1. In 16 years, fisher never did that. He wanted to pass on McNair for K. Carter, didn't bring in Brees for a workout when he was a free agent and passed on Aaron Rodgers. Aside from that, don't you think on the other side of the ball that Gray's defense was better than Corky's?

He also gave several rookies more playing time than JF would And Cook, DW, and Hawk all got more playing time and produced more under the new regime Last year, we couldn't even play DW over Gage

CMJ
These pro-Munch stories are making the followers of Saint Jeffrey of Culver City agitated.
Denali
CJ got fined something like 30k per day of training camp that he missed...no? Yes, but effectively it was water under the bridge once he got the new contract. My point is that with circumstances like that, any related broad-stroke discipline practices are compromised.
