Sources: The #Dolphins have given franchise tagged WR Jarvis Landry and his representative permission to seek and facilitate a trade. It will take cooperation from all parties.

ML didn't run the offense but I've got no interest in going 20 rounds with you in defense of Austin.

Taylor got tons of chances. He's not the gadget guy or slot guy you guts want him to be.

What chances did Taylor have?

Full disclosure, I’m a Jarvis Landry fan and have been since the moment I put his tape on before the 2014 NFL Draft. He catches everything in his vicinity, gets open with ease as a terrific route runner, and is one of the fiercest competitors in the league as a blocker and after the catch. There is a lot to love about his game, and with free agency pending for the fourth-year wide receiver, we’re about to find out how much NFL teams value him.

If you’re looking for a film breakdown of Landry’s traits and skill set, I wrote one right here before the 2017 NFL season began. Landry often gets mocked and ridiculed on social media because of his running back-like average yards per catch, which hit a career low in 2017 at just 8.8 yards per reception.

The reality is that Landry isn’t fast and doesn’t possess great leaping ability, which are typically two of the most important traits to possess in order to win consistently in the vertical passing game. He’s never going to be dominant down the field, but he is such a nuanced route runner that when he was asked to play more of an aggressive role in 2016, Landry had the best season of his career, averaging over 12 yards per catch on 94 receptions for over 1,100 yards. He has shown on tape he can do more than the Miami Dolphins ask him to do, and he hasn’t gotten a ton of help from the quarterback position over the course of his career.

A team that wants to bring in Landry will have to accept a few things about him. First, he doesn’t have the high-end athletic traits most teams would attach to a true No. 1 wide receiver. A high-end No. 2? Absolutely. But not the focal point of your passing attack. Second, you’re going to have to pay him like a No. 1 wide receiver.

Mariota needs a solid route runner who will be in the right place and make the catches which is what we need here badly so i think signing Landry would be great for the offense.

Just admit you are beyond hope, ask forgiveness and move on.  In your mind Austin is a 1700 yard per season stud (that is how many yards he has for his whole career).  If that isn't bad enough the "speed" demon you want to stretch defenses has a .... get this...... a 8.7 YPC average.  Wow.

Can you seriously intentionally misrepresent anything else? Jesus.

And hell no you aren't right about Taylor either because none of us know how good or bad he could be.  He is only going into his 2nd season.  Yet you talk like he is the POS that hasn't done shit for 5 years.

And the point was that you don't hold off adding anyone else bc of the hope that Taylor could be something he hasn't shown he can be.

As for Warmack and Cooper I can't see how that has anything to do with this.  So instead of saying "you are right, I'm a dumbass" you bring that up?  Heck Oman and others mentioned possibly getting Austin that year but do you see them lining up now to sign the guy now.  In fact your stupidity is equal to someone arguing we should sign back Warmack.  Heck, Warmack only started 3 games last year for Philly.

My god, maybe you're not intentionally misrepresenting after all.. you're just missing the point.

Landry holds all the power over the Dolphins now, no team is going to give up anything significant without Landry agreeing a new long term deal.

also the Dolphins current salary cap situation is a mess, they can't really afford to keep Landry without shedding a few other guys.

Josina Anderson reported yesterday that the Colts/Titans were two teams to watch in the Landry sweepstakes, now she is reporting multiple teams have been in contact with the Dolphins since Landry was given permission to explore a trade.

iirc they had to tell him if he had permission to seek a trade or not.

they never intended to keep him, they only franchised him for the possibility of bringing forward the compensation they would get when he left.

if they let him walk in FA they could of got a 3rd round compensation pick in 2019, now they can get assets in 2018 to help them trade up for a QB.

without Landry agreeing to a long term deal they aren't getting anything significant for him, even then they will be lucky to get anything more than a 3rd round pick.

I think that was always the case though.

Landry can make it difficult for the Dolphins now though, they are currently over the cap by $8 million, if they want to play any part in FA they need to move him among others on, in the next two weeks.

and without Landry's cooperation they are going to have a hard time moving him, it might even get to the point they have to rescind the franchise tag.
