Mariota doesn't audible.  He has "full control".  Which means he can choose the 2nd or third option in the RPO(packaged play).

I'd trust my mom with football analysis over you. You have no clue what you're seeing.

bJonnu cannot handle blocking as an in line TE yet, and they refuse to throw to him. I don't get it.

Wasn't it Jonnu's block at the goal line that sprungMarcus for the rushing TD?

He wasn't blocking well for a long stretch there, but the staff really heaped praise on him for his blocking this week.

Rookie growing pains.

He drove his man right to the ground on that TD. Hopefully that means the light is coming on for him and that will earn him more PT.

Then signed an inline blocking TE

Its not what they say but what they do

Well they said they brought him up in the team meeting as an example of good blocking and played some of his blocks on the video screen as an example.

But yes, clearly they think he's inexperienced and has been lacking in that area, thus the signing of Stocker. Plus Stocker has experience at FB, so could replace Fowler on gamedays and offer more versatility whereas Jonnu probably can't.

Having Stocker is a big asset, IMO.  You could essentially move Delanie out wide or into the slot,  Smith to TE1, and Stocker to TE2 in certain formations.

Sure, it was a nice block. But every starter is going to have some nice plays. He really struggled this year though, and it affected the running game.

That said he was apparently a very good blocker in college, especially on the move. I think he's going to be very good, I like the pick a lot. But TE is a very tough position to play as a rookie.

And Douglass. He’s useless I don’t get why they even kept him.

3 rookie receivers. That's how he made the roster. I would guess he was one of the last guys in on cut day.

I think the real issue is Smith was drafted to replace an aging Delaine Walker, he's basically his clone.

Robinson decided to make him in the inline blocker while Walker is still playing, basically replace Fasano in the short term and draft Walker's replacement, two birds with one stone.

It hurt the running game, Smith is a weakness at the point of attack. Robinson should have made replacing Fasano a bigger priority

Or not let Fasano leave.

I was saying this in another thread, but I felt like the no. 1 priority last offseason was to re-sign Fasano or sign a veteran blocking tight to replace him because of how important that inline TE position is to the run game in this offense. It snowballs and literally affects everything.
