Marcus Can't Pass Right

I dont know about right or left but he clearly had issues with a 5-10 yard flare. Consistently overthrew open receiver. Mechanics? Correctable? I think so. As to his greatness, I think he is very good and certainly good enough to win a super bowl. Which is what you call a franchise QB.

Mariota is still being developed. He's shown elite talent for long stretches but his consistency is still an issue. The pass to Walker that was almost picked off Nine talked about can't happen(consistently) throughout the season if the Titans are going to contend.

Davis looked like he was going to be a stud before getting injured but I still would have preferred a defensive stud at 5. Someone like Adams or Barnett helps this team more than a WR imo. I thought that before they signed Decker, considering how good Decker and Taylor have looked it's way more obvious.

the TD/INT ratio is way worse there.

Oh yeah, not disputing that, but if we account for his throwaways, his completion %, passer rating and YPA on the right would take a good hit because of it.

I don't know how many throwaways Marcus had last year, but say if he had 20 throwaways to the right, and you didn't add that to his right side attempts, his completion % would hike up from 58% to 65.5%, which is a really significant increase and puts his completion % to the same % as everywhere else.

I'm sure it happened but I can't remember any throwaways to his left.

Regardless, I didn't need a study to be done to know that he throws better to his left (and the middle of the field) than his right.  He puts more zip on the ball.  He's more accurate.  I'm sure there's a mechanical reason for it.  But it should be obvious to anyone who watches him play on a weekly basis.

True. It's also interesting that he got worse there from his rookie year to last year.

I of course believe the offense is shit for him and he makes it better than it is.. but it would be nice to hear opinions from someone who isn't as bias as to why a regression.

Mariota was a far better QB in 2016 than in 2015.

It's hard to be a successful QB if you're getting hammered every other play because your head coach refuses to put anyone other than the offensive line in as a blocker.

I see Davis as a championship pick, 2018+  The team needs a true stud #1 receiver to win big consistently.  I don't think they felt the offense was there.  It takes offenses longer to develop and it's harder to add a key piece through FA on offense than defense.  Davis hopefully develops into a real threat, the kind of player who demands a lot of attention from defenses.  Right now we just don't have that.  I think Mariota can deliver the ball, but he needs weapons like Oakland's Cooper.

As nine has mentioned, it doesn't seem like anything to be overly worried about at the moment. Going into his third year, he is definitely not a finished product. He is trending way upward, though.

Its quite laughable, however, that it seems a few posters came with their pitchforks at the site of a "Mariota isn't perfect" thread.

Yeah we have a few of those, every fan base does. 99% know that he is young and has room for improvement.

Yeah we can go defense next year. A top WR was a crying need for the team. That cost us a game or two last year.
