titaninpgh
I can't believe how open Matt Miller was about his sources' team associations and positions. That's a paradigm shift in reporting on NFL draft rumors. His Titans rumor relied on a "rival GM," so he likely doesn't have a source with the Titans. A weapon for sure, but I'm not sure he fits the offense very well. I largely agree and while I don't think he's a Delanie replacement, I think he can give us a different dynamic. The scouts seem to say that while he's not a great blocker, he's very willing so there may be hope. I just figure if I can't get the elite blocker in Howard, why settle for a guy like Njoku who is pretty athletic but also not a good blocker? Why not just go for it and pair Delanie with an electric play maker? We can even replace Fasano with a guy like Shaheen in the 4th or 5th if we really need that blocking TE. I want weapons regardless or position right now.

Hell, Delanie is barely 6'1 and currently 246 he's a great blocker. No doubt he's on the smaller end and not as thickly muscled as Walker but his frame has plenty of room for growth and an NFL strength and conditioning program would do wonders for him.

Don't watch much Skins, but I rarely see Jordan Reed playing inline. We're going to want a TE who does http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/evan-engram?id=2557858
cenj
Yea, while another pass catcher sounds great, it's basically the same as getting a slot WR. For 2 TEs to work in this offense, they have to block well. Otherwise, the loss in the running game nullifies the benefit of a faster TE.  All TEs become better blockers in the NFL, so it's possible. Shaheen is considered a suprisingly bad blocker for his size. But he's clearly a guy you hope will develop.

And I get that he's not the blocker we're looking for but I'm still intrigued at what Marcus could do with a weapon like this. The Pats were devastating when they had Gronk and Hernandez out there forcing teams to stay in base and get burned by Hernandez or go nickel and get run on. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Jordan Reed is some mauler in the run game and I don't think Engram will be either but everyone says he's a willing blocker and we sure as hell will stress blocking much more than the Skins so I'm optimistic. From reading the scouting reports every TE except Howard needs serious work as a blocker so why not choose the best receiver out of the bad/so-so blockers? nine
Think about it this way:   teams draft elite LT prospects in the top 5 all the time and nobody ever bats an eye.   And they don't catch passes. If there's a prospect who has demonstrated elite blocking skills AND the athleticism and skill to be a downfield receiving threat...one could certainly argue that he would be worthy of top-5 consideration. Kirkster
I honestly find it highly unlikely we get a trade down partner. Draft is stocked and QBs aren't very good, yet last year neither was Goff, yet their was one village idiot.
