Cyrus Posted December 1, 2016 Report Share Posted December 1, 2016 Even if you have a maxim of "throwing as much as possible while still maintaining efficiency", it doesn't suggest any fixed ratio of run/pass. Given the multiplicity of factors within a game (roster/matchup/situation/weather/etc) it's virtually impossible to make a determination about what the right ratio might be with any real confidence. It's a reasonable principle, but it's no basis for criticism unless you assume you have perfect information and knowledge of the unknowable (what might have occurred had something else happened). Obviously Prescott shows you can have the 4th best passer rating and best record in the league while averaging the least attempts of the QBs included. Brees shows you can have the 3rd best passer rating and most attempts per game while having the worst record of the bunch. Our offense is top 7 in the league or better in yards per game, points per game and 3rd down efficiency. Sure, there is room for improvement and I see no reason it won't continue to improve as Marcus gets more experience and we add additional players, etc. However, to win more games, the defense and ST are going to have to improve. Throwing more isn't going to do it by itself.
