If the shooter were anything other than Muslim the media narrative would be all about hatred of gays/"homophobia". And maybe it will be in some circles. But in order to head off all the "Islamophobia" the narrative will be gun control.

Watching the news is like watching someone ski moguls.

I don't get why there is so much Islamophobia. We all going to die at some point. I am more likely to die from a drunk driver, lightning strike, or suffocating under a giraffe shit then I am from a terror attack.

Shit, try to be happy and enjoy the time you have on Earth, not the threat that Earth has to offer.

There has been articles about his hatred of gays.

The national debate after mass shootings always end in gun control discussion.

Some of the comments in this thread appear to have a bias behind them rather than reality.

And of course Duckie liked this post.  Coincidense?

Do you believe Islamic ideals plays into standard US domestic violence as well?  What would explain US domestic violence?

I don't think Islam and its followers have the market cornered when it comes to domestic violence if that's what you're asking.

What explains any domestic violence?  These are supposed to be people one cares for and loves.  There's no logical explanation for that.

I'm not afraid of Islam. I am afraid of the plane I'm flying in getting blown up or flown into a building. I am afraid of having a side of C4 with my morning cup of coffee. I am afraid of becoming some hate/war-mongerer's idea of 'live target practice'.

I know I'll die one day... and maybe "beggars can't be choosers"... but if we had that mindset about every form of death we may as well chuck the laws against murder in any form.

You can go die by the hands of a terrorist if you want, but I'd prefer to go in a slightly less violent manner.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

Domestic abuse was pretty normal not that long ago in the US. It's still a huge problem. You couldn't rape your own wife either. These things were often backed up by religion right here in the US of A...

This guy was reported to not be very religious back then. Why would you assume Islam is the reason he was abusive?

It has been reported that co-workers said that the shooter had made pro fundamentalist Islam statements.  In fact, he was investigated by the FBI on two separate occasions, years apart, in which he was accused of making pro-terrorist remarks.

This stuff about him not being pro-terrorist before is bullshit.

And the stuff about this being LGBT-hate related and not Islam related is also bullshit.

Watch and read the news reports.

Who fucking cares? Both are wrong!

Not a coincidence at all.  The media has an agenda that follows very closely the current admin's.  Too closely if you ask me.

His father's statements are the only thing I've read so far that said he objected to gays, and even then it was more about a few public displays of affection than the overall gay acceptance.

But I believe his actions speak much louder than any words spoken thus far,...  How about you?

And the fact that he did this during Ramadan, is that a coincidence too?

The national discussion has turned into gun discussion in every mass shooting incident that I can remember, even before the "current admins".  Columbine?  Virginia Tech? To suggest that this mass shooting will result in a gun discussion to get away from "islamophobia" is ridiculous and wreaks of bias.

His actions are exactly that of all mass shooters, a twisted mind.  I get it.  Some people NEED it to be about Islam while at the same time writing off other mass shootings as crazy people.

But some people's minds are twisted for different reasons.  This guy called 911 and pledged his allegiance to ISIS in the moments before the shooting.

I'd say that lends credence to NN's theory that the major news outlets are favoring one agenda over another.

The ISIS/Islam narrative SHOULD be the elephant in the room, not gun control.

Yet, here we are, getting our people killed by the JV team again, yet crying because normal, law abiding people are allowed to buy semi-auto rifles under constitutional law.

It is a valid point/question to ask if this shooting is centered around this man's faith. If this were a Christian psycho who professed his faith in cleansing homosexuals I guarantee you that would play a large part in the narrative.

I disagree. He would just be called mentally ill.
