Mike Shula has to be close to the top of our list

This article sums up the Panthers & it really is pretty incredible how good their offense is. They're averaging 32 points a game while running the ball 55% of the time, unheard of in this day & age. Cam is playing at a ridiculous level right now & is in complete control of the offense.

As great as Cam has been, Shula is easily the assistant of the year, it's not even close. The interesting part is Shula is running an old school offense, tons of running & way more 3 man, max protect, downfield routes. I think BK actually pointed out that they run way more 3 man routes than anybody in the league. This is the old Al Davis/Raiders recipe, run it & go deep.

Truth be told this isn't the ideal offense for Mariota, who aside from mobility really is the opposite type of QB as Cam is. He'd probably be better off in more of a spread, West Coast offense, but he's been making some impressive downfield throws lately & I think the deep drop backs & xtra blocking will allow him to take advantage of his mobility. Either way, this guy needs to be on our interview list.

That offense is tailored for Newton. It's based on controlling the game with running including using Newton as a major ground threat, but overall likes the big plays in the air which a defense this season cannot stop. I don't think that is a recipe for Mariota

We have the blocking TE's and FB to run this offense. We need the RB though, as well as some more OL, the Panthers have a pretty dominant OL.

Cam also has a great deep ball & is killing teams with it. Running the ball & going deep is still a very viable way to play offense these days, as Cam is showing.

Horrible choice for MM. The only plus is that they were willing and able to build an offense that matched what Cam does well and hides his weaknesses. But if you're thinking you want them to try the same offense w/ MM... horrible idea. Horrible.

The guy doesn't have to build the same exact offense. BTW Hue Jackson was always a Coryell, downfield guy, but he adjusted a bit for Dalton.

The fact is with very middling skill talent this guy is coordinating the best offense in football, that's impressive. He clearly knows what he's doing, and I'd trust him to tinker his approach a bit to match our teams strengths.

Both the Seahawks and now the Panthers prioritized running the ball over passing it even though they both have a good young QB.  Neither team has outstanding WRs.  Both also have an outstanding defense.

Which we don't have. It's easier to build a high flying passing game than an elite defense. It's more sustainable.
