Dmeade-
Much Mahalos! For sure about the Titans gears! Did you all see Marcus on the Letterman? Letterman No, but mahalo. Will check it out.
heyitsmeallen
Your drywall comment is what sealed the deal. Lots of locals no like it when haole shows up to take contracting type job. Just kidding ya of course, you'll be fine as long as you are respectful and don't be anything stupid. There are certain places you just wouldn't want to be - our chef in Kona says no good happen there after dark (walk your white butt into certain bars at night and you're just asking for it). But really, as long as you can be sensitive to the culture and not get off a plane and act like you own the place, it's all good. Judging from you as a poster here, I think you'd be quite welcome. I could see you hanging in Paia. I understand them not wanting to lose jobs to people who aren't locals... But we don't beat hispanic or Eastern European people's ssses for coming here to work construction or other jobs.... And like I said I'm always respectful of others cultures when traveling. I even try and Learn slot about the culture. I'd love to go visit Hawaii but have just hear a lot of people say they get scrutinized just for visiting. Coming in, taking jobs from locals...I see that. Just being your average American tourist needing to go out of his way to show respect I don't get. Sure don't be a damn asshole (for whatever reason a lot of people can be while on vacation and I would understand that dislike among locals), but tourism is what drives HI's economy and creates all kinds of jobs. Why be onrey about it? Maybe I just need further explanation from what y'all are saying. Both times of been to HI has been a wonderful pleasant experience (both to Honolulu). like I said above... Hospanic or Eastern European people come to the contiguous usa and "take our jobs" but if we applied for those jobs and worked hard They wouldn't "take them" my moms friend didn't move to Hawaii to look for work..He moved there because work called him. If the locals applied for the job and worked hard his boss wouldn't have called someone to work in Hawaiifrom nc. We have the same issues where I live. The people who get pissed about immigrants stealing their jobs are the same lazy asses that can't keep a job themselves.

heyitsmeallen
Sometimes that's true and many times it's not. Esp. when they bring in people who get paid less than the minimum. that is the employers fault not the people coming to work for them. They can't legally pay a citizen less than min wage. Here on the contiguous usa we have the same issues. That's why there are so many arguments for increasing the southern border control, but things won't change until employers stop being cheap asses who skirt taxes to increase their bank accounts. The people who get pissed about immigrants stealing their jobs are the same lazy asses that can't keep a job themselves. It's not just from the mainland. The chef's father-in-law in Kona (Big Island, Island of Hawaii) - long-time local family - is a custom contractor. He ended up with a job in Kauai. His crew was harassed by locals, their equipment damaged if not stolen, work sabotaged, etc. As I've been told.... and I started in Kona: Kona side and Hilo side (both Big Island) hate each other. Big Island and Maui don't like each other - both think they are better. Everybody on the neighbor islands hates Oahu because basically that's where everybody lives, so all the news, politics, etc revolves around them and everyone else gets sick of it (kinda how everywhere in Georgia not in Atlanta hates Atlanta). And Kauai just hates everyone else and thinks they're the only true Hawaiians left.

That's why there can be no sovereignty. Too many Hawaiians want the power, too much fighting. True Aloha spirit is dwindling b/c of this and too many malihini's. rns90
Haoles need to be respectful then it's cool. The problem though few of them are. Especially military ones, they're cocky and disrespectful as hell. Back in high school they used to have kill haole day. This reminds me of a story a while ago I heard from a friend who ran a bunch of Chervon stations. He said that Kaneohe/windward side of the island had the most haole's out of all the Chevrons he ran around the island. Your drywall comment is what sealed the deal. Lots of locals no like it when haole shows up to take contracting type job. Just kidding ya of course, you'll be fine as long as you are respectful and don't be anything stupid. I could see you hanging in Paia. Maybe he'll run into Steven Tyler who owns a home there. There are more famous people who live on Maui than all the other islands. Oddly enough, a lot of musicians/rock stars. Sammy Hagar produces his own rum. Pierce Brosnan lives in Kauai for part of the year. Aside the actors who work on Hawaii Five O I can really name that many famous people who live on Oahu. Anyway, I went and bought lunch at a food stand and wore a Titans hat. The guy running it said it was a nice hat and asked whether or not it was because of Mariota. I laughed a little and told him no.
EagleEye
Tennessee should play this Hawaiian song for Marcus when he enters the stadium for the 1st time. I think he would appreciate it! Hawaii Aloha Anyone can teach me how to put videos on here instead of links?

Too many Hawaiians want the power, too much fighting. True Aloha spirit is dwindling b/c of this and too many malihini's. Completely agree, but have heard that type of stuff spouted off by more than a few before. Frankly, it kinda reminds me of poor white trash rednecks in the KKK from older Southern days, looking for someone to blame for their own problems. When you meet a "real" Hawaiian, the more love in their heart and more education in their brain means less of that crap. The thing to remember is that despite the fact some of these folks are full of crap, the overwhelming majority of people on the mainland have no idea exactly how much Hawaii got the shaft from the US gov't along the way (they tend to leave that out of the history books), and thus why there is so much animosity now. Or better yet, they probably really could work it out to have Jake Shimabukuro play the National Anthem at a game.
