MIKE75
He's not going to willingly or happily sit behind someone who has no business starting in front of him. People calling him a bad apple/teammate for it would be full of it. It's best for the team if he starts, and he knows it. He'd be letting the team down by willingly or humbly accepting a back up role, when his place is leading the team on the field. It would stagnate his own progression, absolutely. The only way he grows any further as a player is by starting. Sitting slows/all out stops his progression. Agreed,i also think TN would be getting trade offers like Tampa with Glennon...... MIKE75
A bunch of those teams have worse qb situations than the Titans though and with the questionable qb class this year, it makes sense that there are several teams interested. Climer also had a nice little dig at Sankey in his column. If they'd drafted Jeremy Hill they'd be set at RB. Taking Sankey as first RB was ignorant. Cincy happily scooped Hill up after our mistake. Similar to 2012 when this team took Zach Brown over Lavonte David. Crap like this is why this team is stuck where it is.....
NashvilleNinja
Look, there is no question that Mett has talent. No one should kid themselves and think he is the next Brady, but he was pretty well thought of as a QB going into the draft (red flags aside). He has easily shown enough to be handed the starting job in 2015. We just don't know his true talent level yet. Exactly. All Climer has done is make us ask the same damn questions. The only TN writer I dislike more than Climer is Biddle. Those two are quite a pair.
MIKE75
@MIKE75 must have orgasmed and fallen back to sleep. Has to be only reason that he hasn't posted. Maybe @ is with him? What a lovely morning, you rang?
Number9
Exactly. The only TN writer I dislike more than Climer is Biddle. Those two are quite a pair. Biddle is so bad, I don't think I have ever seen his name mentioned on this board.
charleytolar
Nothing will shock me when the Titans pick/trade at 2, I could literally see Williams, edge Rusher, QB or trade down However assuming the team does indeed like Mett and think he can be a franchise QB it totally makes sense to put a full course press on Mariota and have everyone believing you really want to draft him so you can trade the pick and get as much from it as possible. If the want to go offensive in the draft to load up for Mett, we could grab Amari Cooper or Kevin White at 1-2, but instead trade back with OAK/WASH/JETS/BEARS and one of Cooper/White might slide to that spot. If not grab Devante Parker at the new spot and with the extra picks for moving back as consolation prizes: a RT, a RB, an OG and another WR through Round Three. Then turn to Defense and BPAs. TrueLuvYaBlue77
If Mettenberger did last year (what at the very least Vince Young did his rookie season), would give this front office, coaching staff & fan base a much better optimistic outlook toward the future under LSU Zach. The best attribute Mettenberger showcases to date is his desire to want to succeed as the Tennessee Titans future quarterback, undoubtedly. He didn't even finish the season healthy and passed for 8 TDs against 7 INTs.
Mythos27
I hate to be the one to say this because as you all know I'm a big Mett fan but this feels like the real smoke screen. I think they've realized how pathetic they've looked slobbering on Mariota's balls the last few months and decided to throw Mett a bone just to remind people that they're definitely willing to trade away the #2 pick. Without this article I could see a lot of teams being discouraged to even try trading for Mariota due to how much we seemed to love him. At the end of the day I obviously hope Climer knows something we don't but I doubt it.

He didn't even finish the season healthy and passed for 8 TDs against 7 INTs. The whole team was in shambles. Hard to blame Mett going 0-6 as he came in at the middle part of the season when there were injuries and subpar play on the field. I do believe if the team wasn't picking so high in the draft Mett would without a doubt be the QB going into 2015. I thought he played well at times and definitely had the Steelers game won but the defense was terrible.
Mythos27
I think some of those Mett stats vs TB are skewed. Lots of Mett's stats were when the game was out of balance. I'm just saying... The garbage time argument is weak and even if it were true you would then have to go back and calculate how much garbage time Teddy played in to actually draw a fair comparison. People like to talk about the "garbage time" Mett played in but conviniently over look all the garbage time other QBs play during. The Vikings were 5-10-1 last season including losses of 10-35, 20-41, and 14-42. Just a guess but I bet there is a fair bit of garbage time somewhere in there. Yes the offensive line argument is perfectly valid, but never seems to be mentioned for Teddy or Bortles who's teams ranked worse per PFF. I know PFF has flawed metrics and Mett's was worse than the average for the Titans, but just some perspective
Mythos27
What? The Vikings were 7-9 and Bridgewater went 6-6 in games started Thanks for setting me straight, it didn't really hurt my point though. They had losses of 7-30, 10-42, and 3-17 plenty of garbage time in there.
ctm
Climer's article is not a news piece where he contacts sources and reports what he learns. It's an opinion piece....his own. There is a big difference in what he does and what Wyatt and others report.
