It seems a lot of people are on the same page about the whole thing. I do think Webster striking out like this increases the chance of a QB, not necessarily for the fan base, but to save his own ass for two more years. What a scary thought just handing the Jags, Williams and going another round with the mobile QB.

At the same time, Mariota is 100 times the prospect of VY and Jake. He's smoother than both, has a better release than both, is more polished from the pocket, manipulates it well, keeps his eyes down field...I could keep going. I haven't seen him do some of the finer things, like look off safeties, but he is making presnap reads and calling audibles and protections.

VY and Jake were both hyped for different reasons, while Mariota is an actual QB who will need time to adjust and in the right system could be lights out. But in the wrong system, under the wrong circumstances, or injuries, or lack of a stable environment (HC changes) crop up, he's likely failing, which makes him even more of a risk here because of our instability.

Hell, if we want the splash then trade a second, fourth, and next year's first for Brees. Don't just hand up a once in a decade prospect in Williams. Mariota will likely not succeed here because of the toxic environment. That kid needs stability, and we can't offer it.

Though I have doubts about him, Mariotta is a way better prospect than Locker. Really not even close. Locker was the most inexplicable first round QB pick I've seen in nearly 40 years. Maybe Kelly Stoufer comes close. My favorite scenario of all would involve dropping a few spots, getting Sheldon to anchor our DL and picking up another 2nd rounder in the process. We really need another 2nd badly(even though that round in particular has been terrible for Webster).

I have no idea what the Titans think about the NT spot. Many here assumed we would go after someone, but so far it seems like the Titans aren't even sniffing around those FAs. I haven't heard anything from them on NT prospects in the draft. I guess it's possible they really are satisfied with SLH.
