You gotta love the fact that his gym-rat work ethic also applies to his film study; I also love the "Don't talk about what I do well....talk about what I can do better" attitude. That's awesome. Hell, I love everything about the kid.....except the way he plays quarterback. I tend to think that a player is going to play the way he plays regardless of the system he's in. The Oregon offense is obviously the furthest thing from an NFL-style offense....but even so, if Mariota had even an inkling of being a natural pocket passer, you would think we'd have seen some sign of it by now. That's my only real problem with Mariota. In order to be successful in the NFL, he'll have to become an entirely different type of player than he was in college and completely rebuild the foundation of his game. Maybe he can do it....maybe he can't. He certainly seems to have the perfect attitude....but when you're talking about rebuilding a player from the ground up, I'd say the odds are working against him. I wouldn't be a bit disappointed if the Titans draft him, and I'll probably be pulling for him no matter where he ends up. I'll just hope like hell that he proves me wrong. In the biggest win of his Oregon career, the national championship semifinal trouncing of Florida State, Mariota stayed in the pocket on 23 of his 36 passes. Right off the bat you can tell MM is smarter, Jake always gave off that dumb jock vibe. He also looks so much more comfortable nj the pocket & way more accurate. Ok, I can't believe I'm actually about to do this; Locker actually improved a ton between his senior year at UW and his last season with us. The problem with Locker is that he was so damn horrible in college that the amount he would have had to improve to even be decent was astronomical. It was scary watching a 1st rounder in his 4th year dropping back in the pocket this past season without a clue how to manage the pocket.
