A few clues the FO is giving that indicates they're taking a QB early

Recommended Posts

I think there's zero chance they take a QB at #11 unless they have a "can't miss" grade on Bortles and by some chance he falls to them. I do think there's a very good chance they take one no later than in the 3rd round.

The Titans like both Carr and Bortles enough to take them at #11.

But I think they have some defensive players rated higher. So we'll see how it shakes out.

Webster would really like to trade back a few spots and then take Carr.

None of the defensive players are going to be as important to the long term success of the team as picking a QB.

That's why I think they go QB in round 1.

6. They didn't exercise the 5th year on Locker

Not sure that is much of a sign. I think his 5th year would have become guaranteed with an injury, so it would have been very risky based on his history, and as a top 10 pick, his 5th year would be close to what a franchise tag would cost.  So it seems better to just use a tag if he has a really good year and won't reach an agreement on a new contract (which based on his personalty, I think he would reach one.)

1. Last year, we pretty much knew Warmack would be the first pick. This year, Webster & Wiz are holding everything close to the vest. When they are asked about drafting a QB, they're unusually non-committal. This is likely because they know there will be some level of controversy come Thursday night.

2. They've sniffed WAY too many QBs to not be serious about picking one early.

3. Whisenhunt will not want to waste time on another wait-and-see season with a QB he didn't pick and doesn't fit what he wants to do.

4. Webster has made it clear he wants that extra pick back. If you go QB in round 1 or 2, you're VERY limited with what else you can do without that extra early round pick (OT, DT, etc)....ESPECIALLY in a draft this deep.

5. Next year's QB class is fuckin' putrid. And GM's do look ahead, contrary to what they say in front of a microphone.

How'd this work out for ya?

We didn't draft early...yet, we drafted one of the better prospects who was projected to go earlier than the 6th round. And traded away a useless 7th rounder to do so.

That indicates that QB was a priority in this draft. Maybe not as high as I originally thought, but a priority nonetheless.

At the end of the day, this organization has shown that they're prepared to move on from Locker if he takes a midseason vacation again this year. And that hurts your soul.

It's unhealthy for you to hold on to such a mediocre QB. Says a lot about what you REALLY want to see from this team.

If it wasn't, they would have picked other players in the 6th and 7th.

Stop being a doofus, Reo.

If it was a priority, they would've picked one higher than the 6th.
