reo
Well let's not pretend Jackson is some spring chicken either. He's 30 and Dansby is 32. Daryl Smith from the Ravens could still be a top target as a bigger ILB. The problem is Brown is an unknown as an ILB. He's actually a big bigger in terms of weight:height ratio than all of them though. Zack Brown 6'1 248 D'qwell Jackson 6'0 240 Karlos Dansby 6'4 250 Daryl Smith 6'2 248 Granted size isn't everything (that's what she said) but for reference Moise Fokou 6'1 243 Colin McCarthy 6'1
Alcibiades
Jackson was considered undersized coming out of college. There were legit questions about his physicality in the NFL. He's answered his critics well, but is he really a thumper?
reo
I was surprised Brown was as big as Dansby.. actually probably bigger considering he's about the same weight but 3" shorter.
Alcibiades
Physically, Brown is a beast. He's big and fast. the critics said he lacked physicality, but that's about USING his physical tools. He has them.

He has them. Does he still lack physicality? I thought those questions were answered.... at least at OLB. Not sure how he'll do on the inside. I'm a little encouraged by seeing that he has the size for it. I was thinking he was smaller.
JCBRAVE
We can do better than Jackson guys, dont set the bar so low just because we got used to seeing Fokou fuck up all last year. But it wouldnt be the worst signing, just far from great IMO.
HOTT
No to Jackson. Need a real physical guy in the middle.
wiscotitansfan
Is brown a 3-4 ILB? Not sure how big OLBs usually are but he has the speed?
IsntLifeFunny
Is brown a 3-4 ILB? Not sure how big OLBs usually are but he has the speed? He won't be asked to be a true 3-4 LB. His job will be nearly identical. Since we are apparently strictly 1-gapping, the only difference will be the LEO rusher (weak side pass rusher) will be standing up a good bit of the time. Everything else will be essentially identical to our 4-3 under front.
headhunter
I dont know many 3-4 ILBs that are big to just take on blockers. Ravens and 49ers dont have big ILBs.
Guest
So 240+ is small for a LB now?
VanCityTitan
Just curious as to what makes the people saying "no" think that way? I'd be lying if i said I watched the Browns beyond their games vs the Titans (and the odd prime time match up) but I was under the impression that DJ was a very good ILB. What doesn't he have/do that you feel he should? He's a massive upgrade to what we have IMO...and when considering everything else we need on D...the ability to fill this particular need before free agency even opens is a huge advantage. I'm not saying no, I just have a few other preferences personally. But Horton knows him and if he wants him, I'm fine with it. It does fill a need. And he's out there right now for the taking. The other possibilities you can only speculate on right now. Some of those guys will get resigned.
Alcibiades
So 240+ is small for a LB now? Depends on your height and your role. For a MLB, yeah, it's a bit undersized in some cases. I think that's overrated though. If the guy can play and has the will to tackle, that matters way more. And Reo, I was talking about Brown's critics. I think he's answered them, but since he regressed this past season, I'm not sure. I honestly don't know what people think about him right now. JCBRAVE
240 is perfect for ILB's, even 230 gets it done
