ZEPPELIN
Why would Munchak want to go work for the guy who voluntarily left Penn State, a job he couldn't get himself despite the fact that he was an NFL head coach and is a Penn State Alum? Awkward Plus the Texans are a shitty franchise. Plus the Steelers are a great franchise. Plus he is from PA.
freakingeek
Munch has to feel pretty resentful about how things worked out here. Now that Bud is gone he has no ties with the ownership that he would have allegiance to. I hope he gets a good position no matter where he goes. He's a stand up guy. Just not HC material. amyinsparta
Do any of you honestly think he would come back here/it would be a good idea for him to come back here after not being retained for head coach? On what planet does this dynamic work? I've heard it tossed around but it's ridiculous to think it would happen/would even be a good fit. Well, we have lots of good people who are not attuned to the real world and how it works. They live on their own little planets.
TitansGirl
Munch has to feel pretty resentful about how things worked out here. Now that Bud is gone he has no ties with the ownership that he would have allegiance to. I hope he gets a good position no matter where he goes. He's a stand up guy. Just not HC material. I'm not sure this is accurate ... seems Tommy had a relationship with Munch many of those years, too ... he spoke very highly of him and acknowledged how hard it would be to make the call to let Munch go toward the end of the season because of their history and his respect for Munch. I agree -- he's way stand up. Just not HC material. He doesn't have the network or relationships to be a HC. What Whiz has been able to do (bringing in so many great coaches), Munch would never be able to do because he just doesn't have the network. Munch probably knows this. He's from Pennsylvania, that has to be one of the reasons. When he was first signed to be our HC, he talked about how he never left the Titans to pursue other opportunities because his family didn't want to move. His kids were in school and they all loved Nashville. I'm sure he made this decision not only on what sounded like a great opportunity, but what his family would want, too ... and I'm sure they would rather move home to PA then back to TX. Munch is one of the best OL coaches in football. It's a great hire by the Steelers. They must have remembered the days in the Fisher era when we dominated them and their blitzes rarely made it home against us. He IS. The Steelers are very lucky to get him. Mercalius
Munch was a Steelers fan growing up so getting back to his old stomping grounds with the team he used to follow makes sense. The Steelers are a quality organization. Actually he was a Browns fan believe it or not.
kyle021
I'd like to see Munchak hired to run out after each kickoff and get the tee and run it back to the sideline. He can do a somersault as he gets back to the sidelines Lmao am I the only one who got this? You are referring to the mentally ill guy that did that after every kick off for the Oilers right? lol
titanruss
munch is from pennsylvania... makes sense he would go there. as a HC, i think munch had a 7 year plan instead of a 4 year one.... and if he did have a 4 year plan it fell through b/c of lockers injuries. I think he'd have been a solid HC in the long run. i mean, what would he change if he could do it all over? make better hires? he was hampered with that when he got the position. I guess promoting from within the org and among his buddies is not a great idea always... but isnt whiz doing the same thing?
dannynj
Munchak is from Scranton. Scranton is 5 hours east of Pittsburgh. It's not like he and his family will be commuting from his home town.
Tex in a Can
It's all about being from your area now and then, wiht like minded people, especially when you have lived away for a long time. oldschool
Munch has been away from Pennsylvania for over 30 years. You guys are acting like he left last week. I'm from Houston and grew up there. It's not my home and hasn't been for 15 years.
