Eighteen
Mostly agree with Soxcat's post and our schedule gets a little easier the rest of the way as well. I personally feel like our offense has enough potential to make a run for the playoffs, but even then it's questionable and mostly dependant on if our offense can put all the pieces together and really get everything working at once consistently enough before it's too late. It remains to be seen if that'll happen or not but I'd give it about a 50/50 chance whether or not Frank n Beans and the dwarf can improve enough upon their first half coaching performance and hope that Locker can overcome some of their ineptitude. We already know the defense is good enough to ball with just about anybody but they're not gonna be good enough to win playoff games on their own. Aramis
You do realize that two of the last three SB winners were wildcards right? You also realize that the team who wasn't a wildcard (Baltimore) only won 9 games, right? The goal is to make it to the playoffs no matter what. Once you're in the tournament, anything can happen. OK, I'll play this game. Yes the Packers, Giants and Ravens won the last three Super Bowls as wild card teams. However, lets break down the three teams and their situations. Packers finished the season on a hot streak as the sixth seed at 10-6. They also have a guy by the name of Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball and a staple of good receivers. Oh and that 3-4 defense coached by Dom Capers wasn't too bad either. That team also had previous play-off experience not to mention McCarthy has shown he can manage a football game, let alone a play-off game. The Giants, the 9-7 team you were referring to (not the Ravens), are an anomaly. Eli started the season off bad, got hot in October, and managed to win a weak NFC East. When Eli isn't turning the ball over the offense is more than capable of putting points on the board. Also, like Green Bay, they had a pretty solid defense comprised of a few guys from that Super Bowl team in 07/08. They played an Atlanta team who clearly didn't show up to play and got out-coached at home. Next up they beat a questionable Packers team at home who couldn't run the ball in Lambeau, a place Eli and that team have won previously in the post-season, followed by an impressive defensive slug-fest in San Francisco that Alex Smith gave away. Finally, the Ravens. Another team with a solid defense and an offense that could capitalize on it. Not to mention Joe Flacco had to go perfect in order to win it all in the post season, but if the Denver DB picks him off like he should've, Manning or Brady likely play in the big game. Oh and Harbaugh from the day he got there has proven he can coach and manage a football game with, for the most part, the same team when he first showed up. Now, with that said, yes - each scenario involved them getting in and things going their way like you and others have said. However, I had more faith in those teams than the Titans for two reasons: One being coaching and, to a degree, personnel. Our defense has been a pleasant surprise this year, but make no mistake: all three of those teams had a better front seven than the Titans do now. Not to mention offensively, they were more efficient than our putrid offense thus far this season. Looking at our team, we don't compare anywhere close to those three teams. Our coach carelessly throws out bad challenges, wastes timeouts and seems to not know when to kick field goals. You can maybe get away with that in the regular season, but in the post-season its the difference between staying alive and going home. Not to mention we have a QB who so far has proven incapable of staying healthy for a full season and a running back who can't get the tough yards. The season's barely halfway done and anything is possible, but putting blind faith in this team to make the play-offs and let alone win a game just because three good teams did it as wild cards the last three years is ridiculous. Difference between you and I, is I expect more from the team and I'm perfectly OK accepting we don't have what it takes to be a play-off team this year. Some of you jumping all over me seem to think I'll be pissed if we somehow make the play-offs, let alone win a play-off game. Not true - I'll be right there celebrating with the rest of you. Aramis
So what are you saying...you would rather see them tank the rest of the season than try to get in the playoffs? What a moronic thought process. Did I say anywhere that I rather them tank the rest of the season? What about this team gives any of you confidence of reaching the play-offs this season? The coach has proven incapable of managing a football game. Not to mention this team, with a shot of making the play-offs, in 2011 against a winless Colts team couldn't get it done. This team needs to prove they can win a division title before I start thinking about play-offs.
IsntLifeFunny
Give it up already. This is the NFL and there are only two goals each team have: make the playoffs and win a SB. Whether you're cheering or not doesn't really mean much, as you've already stated your point of view. Oh, and the Ravens were absolutely terrible on offense until the playoffs. luvyablue256
What's it gonna take for us to actually be in a dominating position and breeze into the playoffs with home field advantage?

I can understand the sentiment of not wanting to be like the Bengals or the Chargers 7 years ago, but like I said, anything can happen once you get there. cenj
Pretty sure the season started in September. If the season really did start now, I'd feel a hell of a lot better about our playoff chances.

wiscotitansfan
This is the dumbest thread ever, you would rather us getting just shy of the playoffs so we don't get embarrased? 2 of those 3 teams that won from the wildcard did it with dominating defenses and offenses that did not turn the ball over in the post season. We may not have the weapons that they did but if Locker plays as well and gets as lucky as Flacco/Eli did, we have just as much of a chance as them per say. I don't expect us to make it to the SB if we squeak into the playoffs at all but to think that any given team doesn't have a chance to win at all is ridiculous. I can't believe you would rather us barely miss the playoffs than getting talked about negatively in the national medias eyes.
wiscotitansfan
NFLstudent or Luvya, whichever one of you is more of an idiot.... why are you all about this superbowl or bust attitude and yet you don't even want to make the playoffs to gain about 4 draft spots up?
