code
There are 32 starting QBs in the NFL. There are not 32 quality starting QBs. Fitz had his chance in Buffalo. There is a reason why he lost the job. We saw the reason today. Fitz isn't Hass. Hass was a borderline HOF QB that happened to be on his last legs when he came to town. Fitz isn't Kerry Collins. Collins was a longtime starter who threw for many thousand yards throughout his career. Fitz is pretty close to NOD. Unfortunately, pretty close doesn't make him as good as NOD. Bottom line, we played a top 5 NFL team to a near draw because we have vastly improved the defense and because we got one of the craziest special team scores ever ... despite playing horrible offense. So to start from the top: 1. Dowell Loggains. You know Fitz is a turnover machine when he tries to get the ball downfield. You proved late in the game that he could be effective working underneath. Why didn't you go there throughout the first and second half of the game? Why don't you throw the ball to CJ in the flats or on screens. Why not get him into space since the line can't create openings for him one on one? Why didn't you use a TE in the passing offense until the final five minutes? Why did you have Reynaud carry on 3rd and 1 when the line had shown ZERO surge throughout the game? I can and will find fault with plenty others on the offense. But on a day when the defense did everything they could to give the team a chance to win your play calling and your personnel use was horrific. 2. Ryan Fitzpatrick. I admire your guts. I think you are a hardnosed guy. But you were miserably inaccurate high all day. You threw a few interceptions that were mindbogglingly stupid. You were Schaub like in your ability to cost us this game. I know you are the 32 - 40 best QB in the NFL. I understand what that means. But I believe you are better then you played today. 3. The offensive line. Once again zero ability to create opportunities for the backs. Pass protection was largely ok. And you avoided idiotic holding and false start penalties. But at some point you actually have to win a few battles for a team with a back up QB to win. Not good enough by a large margin. 4. CJ. I feel ya. There is precious little space to work with. I understand getting gun-shy. But your contract says that you run hard regardless of the lack of running lanes. With only one or two exceptions today, all I saw was you protecting yourself from big hits. Very little aggression. Not timid, but not much leg drive. The one opportunity you had in space you got tripped up by your heels. It has gotten to the point where none of us can credibly defend you without looking like total unabashed homers. Hell, I am proud of being a total unabashed homer and I can't defend you. 5. Rob Bironas. My apologies. Nice bouce back game, though that last kick off was a loser for sure. 6. Defensive line. Loved you. Russell Wilson is just tough. When you contain he can pick you apart in the air. When you pressure he finds lanes. He was just very good today. I liked how you contained Lynch. He runs hard. Eventually he got one on you, but in general thought you continued to play at a very high level despite having only limited availability from 91. A big shout out to Pitoutua. Not only have you been the run stopper as advertised, you have continually provided power rush off the end. You look like a guy we need to extend for a few years. 7. Secondary was very good again. Wilson's completions came on scrambles, largely underneath throws, largely well defended. Verner and McCourty give us a very fine pair of DBs and Griffin has been reborn with Pollard back beside him. Again, resigning Pollard and Wilson to team friendly deals looks to make sense at this time of the season. 8. Linebackers continue to tackle effectively. Wilson makes contain difficult. He beat Ayers out off the corner once (Ayers ducked inside to get an angle and got swallowed up by a blocker). Tackling has been the single biggest improvement of this team this season. If Brown had scooped that ball clean we might have had a different outcome. But you can't blame the defense when the offense couldn't move the ball in the second half (six drives: 4 punts, 2 INTS -- not a winning streak of play). That's really about it. Seattle won a game they were suppose to win. We could have stolen it with even a mediocre offensive performance. But poor QB play, poor RB play, and continued weak offensive line play was the difference. I should not fail to mention Damian Williams came up small on several important plays. My biggest concern now. Keeping Kendall Wright healthy until Jake is able to play again ... because every time Fitz throws him a ball, he hangs him out to dry and the kid gets crushed. I like our chances more against SF, but we will have to find a way to shut down SFs equally potent running game and mobile QB ... and Loggains/Fitz simply have to be MUCH better. Tim
You aren't going to win any games with Fitz without a running game. The defense has done all it can do.

luvyablue256
You want your backup to be a game manager that can keep you in games when your starter goes down. Fitz isn't backup material. When I think backup, I think Volek. Charlie Batch. Kyle Orton. Matt Cassell. Guys steady enough to give you a chance to win a few games if your starter is hurt. Turnover machines don't fit into that category. IF we commit to Locker long term, we will need a trustworthy backup.

Jonboy
I gotta be honest...I actually didn't think Fitz would be this bad. Two things to consider though when evaluating him thus far... 1.) Both KC and SEA have elite secondaries. 2.) Our running game is just atrocious and teams know we have to go to the air to even have a chance. That said, he's been terrible.
amyinsparta
well, we are stuck with Fitz this season, so there's nothing to be done about it. Munch is not about to play Rusty.

This is pretty much how I feel. Oman calls it "turning" but it has nothing to do with picking sides in a stupid debate. Oman would have everyone believe that CJ doesn't have it anymore but that's a crock of shit. He doesn't have 4.24 speed anymore, but 4.35 isn't shabby. I can't believe that a guy who ran like he did in 2008-2010 just suddenly forgot how to ball. I think he may just be holding back to protect himself from injury, even if to the detriment of the team. If CJ is holding back because he doesn't like his blocking then I can understand wanting to preserve the length of his career/future earning potential and health, but as a player fan of the team I can't support that shit. I am not a fan of the Tennessee Johnson's. I am a fan of the Tennessee Titans. The guy signed a big money deal. He got his money, and while I can see that the team was mediocre from 2011-2012, the defense and any other teammate on offense pullin their weight, not to mention fans who spend money and essentially underwrite his contract, deserve more.
