Predicting The 2013 Titans season

You don't know the deal with Scine do you? Here's a hint. He doesn't like Tomlin or Lewis as head coaches.

It has absolutely nothing to do with who their coach is. It has everything to do with the fact that the Bengals snuck into the playoffs the past two years as the #6 seed and have who I consider to be a very mediocre QB.

A preview of the upcoming 2013 season for the Tennessee Titans and a new way of predicting season success. The hardest thing to do in football these days is to predict how NFL teams will perform in a

Andy Dalton can't make all the throws

I agree, he's just ok

They have a very talented roster with a decent QB plus back to back playoff appearances. It doesn't matter whether you like Lewis or Dalton. They are one of the better teams on paper in a weak AFC.

What does Cincinnati winning a playoff game have to do with them GOING to the playoffs?(which they have done the last two years by the way).

Because they were there as the #6 seed sure as heck doesn't make them a playoff "lock." Their QB is a middle of the road guy and no team is ever a lock unless they have an elite QB.

Add into the fact that they play in a very tough division with the defending champs, an always tough team in Pittsburgh and a team that you already acknowledged will be better than people think in Cleveland and it's not a cake walk at all.

In my projections I have the Bengals tying Cleveland for last at 7-9 and losing in the tie-breaker.

Okay does that make them a "lock?"

You picked the Ravens to go to the Super Bowl so unless you think the Ravens are going to do it all on the road you clearly see the Bengals as no more than a wild card team, at best.

I don't like the term lock as there are too many variables in play between now and January. That being said the Bengals have shown themselves to be a playoff team the past few years so in a weak conference it makes sense to have them in the mix. You already know that don't you? What's going on here is you hiding behind your dislike of Lewis.

Totally not true. I think they're playoff caliber and can see them winning the north. I don't think they're going to the Super Bowl because of Andy Dalton (teams can go to the Super Bowl with a lousy coach, as Indy and Pittsburgh proved just a few years ago. I also think GB wins in spite of their coach). But how anyone can call them a playoff lock is beyond me.

It's as silly as NFLStudent saying that the Chiefs and Browns have "no chance" at the playoffs.

Says the 40 year old who spends his life playing online poker and trying to perpetuate his internet message-board persona. You're a pathetic, worthless, piece of shit; but hey, you have 22K posts, so you're awesome, right?

Follows who around? I call out bullshit, and it so happens the OM is the grand wizard of cow feces. Don't worry, if not for him, you would be tops, hands-down.

Oh, and who's 'we' douchebag? You're the one always wanting specific names....how about you provide a few.

Count me in the Alex Smith is a mediocre QB camp.

They thought he'd be cut when Harbaugh got to SF. He stayed and was the definition of a game manager. The second he could, Harbaugh benched Smith for a raw, athletic 2nd year QB -- mid season, while they were very much in the SB hunt.

I think the majority of people consider Smith a game manager -- it certainly isn't some crazy opinion.

He's still a more proven NFL QB than Locker and most non Titans fans would say the Chiefs have the advantage at QB in that match up. Personally I believe Reid is going to turn Smith into a serviceable QB. He runs a QB friendly offense and has consistently won with mediocre QBs and WRs.

@OILERMAN-Very good article.  Willing to take a position and bring out some new angles makes for good reading.  I saw some of the same points @Mercalius questioned, but Andy Reed can bring a QB around fast.  I think the Titans need to be quick in getting either Hunter or Preston on the field.  Get them out there before teams wake up on them and they still have that spring in their step.  The Titans need to gamble and take some risks to break out into the next level.  Maybe these young guys don't have every thing down, but they could blow a game wide open with a couple of plays.
