Titans 2026 Training Camp Discussion
titanruss replied to AussieTitanFan08's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
I think the pass game will be used like the run game a lot more than we are used to. At least in the beginning stages of this offensive development. it's the best way to teach a QB imo as long as you dont coach all of the playmaker out of them. -
that Henry had a lot of games before that bye where he showed out and looked better than Arian foster (for most all of 2017) but was under utilized leading to complacency or self doubt. that in 2018 there was something wrong across the board including Henry and the match with him to the team. that it was mostly fixed on Henry's side at the bye but didn't fully represent until the jags game. that after that game, he was the only real threat on the team and therefore easy to stop at the beginning of the next season until we actually had a QB that could run that offense and open things up.

Not expecting a drop off from that scenario to ours seems silly no matter who thought it. After Lewis showed a drastic falloff though, the obvious answer is to look at why. Too often here that answer is just "well that guy decided to suck!" Or "he's afraid!" Or "he got paid and doesn't care!" The simple answer is comfortable because you don't have to think about it. If Lewis looks like ass and Henry looks even slightly better (he clearly did but still not a Herman level guy ) then at some point you have to look outside the RBs. it's a problem this franchise has had almost across the board for 22 years. Unable to line shit up and the hubris to believe the issues are individual players rather than holistic.

9% of men have been violent with their partners. About 6% are repeat offenders and I'd guess half of those are open to talk about it. Men aren't wired different.. you're friend was just a jackass. Men that beat were beat themselves and saw their moms get beat. It's so normal to them that don't feel weird sharing because they think it makes them more manly to control their woman. -
There's like 500 pages of this site dedicated solely to this argument haha Henry was consistent after the bye and got carries as the hot hand against Jax. He wasn't breaking long runs to consistently have a good average and solid success rate. Thats all my point it is. I don't know if it contradicts the "talk theory" much as Eddie could have easily talked to him before/ during the bye and not sure we have an exact date on that chat.

So you took the pats team with Brady and a great OL and playing with a lead. projected that to the RB and thought the RB was special? Special enough to come here and do the same thing with less? You can't see how without those things it's a struggle to be consistent? Holy shit how badass would Henry have looked on those Pats teams? Your whole schtick was that it was Tannehill doing the heavy lifting with Henry... Henry leads the league in crazy metrics- but gets no credit while making Lewis look like a joke.
-
He wasn't breaking off long runs those early games. but if he had, who cares? The entire premise about why some backs are elite is exactly because of the home runs. Henry was able to do both almost his entire career... and 100% from the bye going forward. it wasn't the Jax game. That's just the one that made it impossible to miss. it wasn't Tannehill, that stability just allowed it to have more consistency. did his workout and attitude change? Sure, if he says it did. .. but so did his usage. and there were plenty games in his career with high averages and no super long runs before the above stats. the coaches didn't know how to use him, and they had no QB to help take the heat off him.

after the bye here's his rush ypc each game : He just wasn't getting carries till the end and the Jax game he had a 99 yard run to boost that average

Or could it be the wear that adds up to break you before the end of the season? -
Henry was running good the last half of that season. He just didnt get the carries or break a long one until the Jax game.

"Immedieatly I thought I was going to pass out"... "obviously a great deal of remorse" ...as he calmly walks away, doesnt check on the kid thats on the ground actually about to pass out from the pain lol. If you want to injure your players, make sure you dont do it on camera. -

Wasnt the added effect of a the best recieving RB just an OK 3rd or 4th WR? You have to be extremely explosive consistently and Love was... but he doesnt look built for the league. He needs another 10-15 lbs at his height. -

As it is right now, Robinson is going to be the TGT leader of the WR's and it isn't particularly close. May sway by the end of the year towards Tate but he's got to learn to beat press better and get open faster. -

I said closer to 5'6 didnt I? Dude felt super short up close. In cleats, a couple feet onto the field (so an extra inch or 2 rise above the concrete walkway), I'm 5'9 - 5'10ish, wearing my zero rise shoes, and looking down at the top of his head. He short. But it helps him be quick and get open so idc. Just interesting to see in person. Good for kids to see the result of hard work. -

A lot comments from fans today were about how many players were wearing them. I feel like it was more than even a couple weeks ago. -

Ayo and Wandale have been the best receivers in camp. They are catching a ton more than the rest, daily. Everyone else is showing up for like 1-2 plays a day while Wandale and Ayo are making like 4-5 plays every day with Ayo getting a bunch of TDs. He needs to be on the field more frequently and I think he will get a much larger share than expected. They are giving Tate the job outright. But as of now it looks like they should be giving Ayo - at min - an even split with Ridley/Tate and swapping them around at the outside spots. EA is winning at the LOS and in press more too. Lets hope Tate is alright from that hit the other day. He looked a little passive today and he had that guardian hat, didn't have a good day. -

They said no one could wear seahawk gear. Most Seahawks fans showed up knowing they couldnt wear gear. Some people were being let in with Seahowk gear, but you had to be in the tiny dugout- sized Seahawks section on the other side of the 3rd field. Like, - the other side of the whole facility - where you couldnt see shit. There was an empty field between them and everyone else for most of practice. In between that empty field and the closest one with action stood Seahawks scrub O players blocking any hope of viewing what was going on. It was pretty damn funny how far away they were. If they tried to wear SEA gear in the Titans section and anyone noticed, they were forced to leave or take it off. A few were missed with more non-descript stuff. So yeah. True. -

College game is going to have to be regulated or the nfl will have to be regulated. Laws will have to be made about how much sports teams can take from schools and how much they are required to put back... otherwise they will start sacrificing education completely - which will lead to a separation from schools entirely. And at that point , everything changes. They will have to start doing call ups and loans and connected schools(minor league squads) like baseball and soccer teams do. -

*I may still be a little over 5'10" Combine height he was listed at 5'8" which seems very generous. 5'6 seems closer. Giants had him at 5'11 haha. -

Also, there is zero way that Wade Robinson is 5 foot eight or seven. I'm like a little over 59 510 and he was solidly 3 inches shorter than me while standing on a field that was an inch or two higher than me. I can see the top of his head dude is probably 5'5. 1 more. I thought Tate caught a couple but I believe I'm wrong according to the radio. They are saying he was held without. -

There was just 1 scrap I saw. Spears was take. To the ground and then defended appropriately. Overall I really think it was pretty even. JSN made a couple plays but they weren't easy for him. All in all hard to see what was happening on the Defensive side as it was far away. But they ran the ones for a clocked period and we looked to be stopping them decently. I came away thinking the offense looked better but still has a long way to go with consistency. Cam was better but still not where you want him yet. I do think he's escaping the pocket earlier this year and maybe that's something Daboll is encouraging because his pocket issues last year were drifting, not escaping. Maybe he just wants to practice the scramble drill more. He mentioned they are working on it in his after practice interview. -

I went to the practice. Posted up by the OL and DL early but they were just hitting bags. Moved inside the pro shop to watch in the AC. Cam was good in red zone. Would've had another TD to helm but looked like a miscommunication on which way he was supposed to open up at the goal line. Cam went wide, helm went in. Trubisky looked pretty good all day he really moves in the pocket well and is accurate on the short stuff The offense is a lot of dumpoffs and screens and runs right now. A bunch of short stuff to Wandale but he had a deep completion cam fit in a hole. Tate had a down day a drop and a miscommunication Ayo gets open and had a couple plays but didn't finish a couple others he maybe could have fought through. LT and C seemed pretty weak. Dike had a good day but was mostly with the twos. Same for Restrepo. Felt like we were even or won most of the day. Cam made a couple scramble plays but also had the pick on a route that got jumped. I do t think it was a pick 6. It was on their side of midfield and the Offense stopped playing after the pick. Most crowded I've seen a practice there. Hard knocks was there. They had Seahawks fans as far away as possible on the opposite side of the 3rd field. -
Henry looked just like Henry for about half his games prior to the Jags game but didn't get carries. He only had 2 bad games from the Jax game until RT started. But it wasn't because he looked bad, it was because there was nothing else for the D to worry about. yes, of course having a QB capable of running the offense helped. You saw that at the end of Henry's time here when the "tomato can" reference started showing up to try and hide Tannehill dogshit play.

People freaked out because Ward left the pocket too early 2-3 times and was throwing way off timed. More than last year and it looked like a regression. I dont think anything matters at all until the reg season but I understand the "uh-oh"s. Making a hard line stance right now is silly though. -

No, the EP offense fits. Dabolls motions fit. The version of his offense where he wants to run the QB 6x a game and has a simplified version doesn't. I think that was always said.
