Keeping Britt is a no-win situation for us

As much as I like Jake and as much as I hope he lights it up this year.....based on his performance over the latter part of the schedule last year, I'd say his chances of getting a second contract in TN are 50/50 at best.

I know his injury affected his play, and rewriting the playbook midseason only made matters worse....but those last few games, he was literally struggling just to throw a straight line.   Never seen anything like it at the NFL level.

I'd love for Jake to be the guy for the next 10 years....but it's not looking good.

Just for the record, I think Locker is going to be fine. I'm avoiding debates about him because they're pretty pointless and lots of views are valid at this point. I understand why many have concerns.  I have concerns, but I think in the end he will be fine.

A lot of that is value based.  He's definitely athletic enough to play qb in the nfl.  The other factor is work ethic. I tend to beleive an individual can do just about anything if they have the work ethic to maximize their potential.

The only thing that I could see derailing that would be team factors, but this FO has shown the willingness to support him with a run game, top oline, and weapons.

IMO, he just needs to demonstrate the work ethic that has been lauded about him and he'll be fine.

Just my opinion...

I agree Prag.. call me a homer, but I see a very compact throwing motion undoubtedly altered last season b/c of pain.. add mobility, a scheme that better fits his ability, and an o-line and I think he'll be fine also..I also hear the players really respect his toughness so that goes a long way also..

The Titans will follow the same route they did with Haynesworth...franchise him, and then let him walk imo. Britt is still young, hopefully maturing...and way too talented to give up on yet. But way too erratic to give a long term deal.

Something tells me the Haynesworth debacle had Reinfeldts fingerprints on it. If I recall correctly, his first franchise tag season was 2007... Which I believe was also Reinfuck's first season with us also.

I think the Titans played the Albert situation perfectly...got him to play at a high level and earn his big contract, he would have burned the Titans the same way he did Washington. He obviously needed motivation to play hard...the Titans gave him two years of motivation...his only two really good years.

More senility.  How was AH's situation a debacle?  The fact we didn't give him a mega deal and then get burned to a crisp like the Skins did?  The team got AH's most productive years out of him and after that he was shit.

Newsflash: If you don't wait until the last minute to sign a player, ********the deal doesn't have to be so "mega"*********

What about Wimbley's contract? If that guy puts up another season like the one he had last year how can the Titans justify having him on the roster at that price? Either give that guy a massive pay cut, or cut him outright and draft someone high in 2014 to (1st/2nd round) to take his place.

It was a debacle. We couldve signed him a year before he hit the open market and the deal wouldnt have been as big as he got in washington

He still bombed the year after he got paid.  I think its safe to assume that would have happened- no matter what.

Who knows. I thnk he wouldve been more likely to still produce under the same scheme with us as opposed to swtiching to a 3-4 in Washington

He only really produced in his contract year.  Before that he was hit and miss.   I think its unlikely he produces more, getting paid less.  He worked hard when money was in front of him and them bombed.

He then left the Skins and tried at the Pats, right?  A 4-3... still bombed.   He got paid and just didn't care enough anymore.
