Like I said, it's not a debate that is going to shift the landscape. The only way it could have mattered is if either candidate was a massive failure or made a horrible gaffe. He had everything to gain and Obama have it to him. The stakes are different after that. I'm saying this as no big fan of Obama. However, in this election, it's the most likely the route I'm going. I'm still split on voting Obama or Stein, but that's a different matter. These debates, most people embraced as something relatively meaningless. They seldom change actual voting percentages, you rarely get direct answers to the questions that matter, and they're basically a dog-and-pony show to shit-talk the other guy or huff up your own preferred candidate. Pretty much, almost everyone would agree they didn't mean much prior to them taking place. Romney takes debate number 1. Suddenly the race is on. The debates are worthwhile. If Obama can't gain ground, his chances of re-election are doomed. Something that was dubbed meaningless 24 hours before is now THE make or break trenches in securing the undecided vote. Obama takes debate number 2. Polls are deemed inaccurate. The moderator is faulted. The questions are ridiculed, and suddenly the debates don't matter that much again. Obama takes debate number 3. Again, folks tend to dig for reasons as to how Romney "hung in there" and how that, in itself, is a win in something that has now been dubbed meaningless twice in the last several weeks. Again, in the end, this debate is practically worthless and nothing will change as a result. Romney is a chump candidate. He's the Donald Trump of politicians. Seriously, I'm mostly convinced he's simply running for presidency to fluff his own ego and treat it as some sort of investment opportunity, and being a guy who's voted Republican before, he's a disgrace for a potential leader of this country. The last month has been a desperate parade to imply competency - attacking the president in areas that have been proven as false (or at least misrepresented), providing so-called answers to shortcomings with no factual backups despite numerous pleas to do so, and claiming "me too" on things he obviously has little or no clue about. All he's done is get publicity and cemented his face as "the republican guy" for this election. Sure, that will get votes, many from idiots and rednecks who still adhere to the "black is whack" philosophy, but in no way shape or form has Romney shown he deserves to be our president. To this day, I still haven't seen a supporter of Romney break-down exactly why he'd be better than Obama. Even on here, when people try to intellectually justify him as a candidate, a majority of the post is either riddled with excuses on his wavering stances or outright hypocritical in attacking areas of Obama's shortcomings. Sadly, in the town I live in, he's actually getting a lot of support - from rich old white men and racist rednecks. I'm not saying that everyone who votes for him falls into those categories, but if I polled all of the people I know and see online supporting him, I'd bet at least 80% fall into those categories. The CNN poll proves what I was saying, nobody won the debate. It neither helped nor hurt either candidate. You are right Cyrus, some of these left wing posters have serious partison googles on. He's been stuck between 30-39% for weeks. This fluctuates quite a bit from day to day, but I've never seen such a rapid jump. Looks like it's settling around 43% now. I will say this they are definately packing the area with voters. Open fields over a mile away had cars parked on them taking bus in. The line to get into the Delray Tennis courts/speech area was the longest I have seen. This could be a huge break for Obama if he gets Palm Beach County to vote for him.
