Mercalius
I'm glad CJ said these things publicly. Granted, CJ is playing terrible and has no right to criticize anyone, but this degree of ineptness has to be addressed. When it's put out in the public like this, things tend to happen faster. I don't want to give up on this coaching staff just yet, as this is a very young team and 2 games is in no-way enough evidence to condemn their long term plan, but coaches today don't get the luxury of many trial-and-error seasons, and so far during the 2012 season, we've barely looked like we belong on the football field. OILERMAN
Jim Wyatt @jwyattsports Titans running back Chris Johnson said he's not perfect. Said he's not to blame for struggles, however
Jamalisms
More right than you'd care to admit. More public than I care to think is a good idea.

OILERMAN
Saying he's not perfect then saying he's not the problem is pretty much absolving himself of any blame.
titanruss
Saying he's not perfect then saying he's not the problem is pretty much absolving himself of any blame. no it isn't it's saying he isn't the main problem... and he isn't
ONUV
when you're paid the amount of money that CJ is, it's easy for the oilerman's to point the finger.
OILERMAN
when you're paid the amount of money that CJ is, it's easy for the oilerman's to point the finger. You don't think he'd be getting ripped if he made the league minimum and had this same production this season and last? Of course he would.
ONUV
the coaches should get ripped and they are for the most part.
abenjami
So does everyone now realize why it was idiotic to pay a RB a ton of money?
OzTitan
It isn't the degree of money that is idiotic really as it has had basically zero impact on the team's ability to manage the cap, and he was easy to get rid of basically straight away. In that sense the money he got is kinda irrelevant. The idiotic part was keeping him at all - and that doesn't have to be a criticism of CJ (although it is when I said it just now), it can solely be taken as a criticism of the run game in general because obviously a $600k veteran could produce like CJ has since his new deal, so why pay premium for a guy who is crippled by your blocking, if that is 100% the problem (which it isn't)? However since it has had pretty much no impact on the salary cap it isn't as big a deal as some make out - I know top teams generally don't pay RBs like that, but that's because they already have a lot of other guys to pay. We didn't, so it was more or less harmless. The problem now is that $600K veteran could feasibly be performing better than CJ - that's where the true harm lies, not in the dollars themselves. Bad blocking or not, there is no way a high end RB should be producing this little, so it tells me there is a good chance we could go from worst running game in the league to top 15-20 with a new RB alone, assuming we get a decent one.
