Guest
Been in America long? Anyone can get sued by anyone. I opened the statement by saying it was borderline illegal. Not illegal. I get notices all the time to be involved in class action lawsuits, someone will try it, hide and watch. Nice jab Hillbilly. I understand your point on the litigious nature of our society. I was merely commenting on how retarded it is for people to bitch about the offers new Directv customers get when the same thing happens across most service industries. biscuit
Nice jab Hillbilly. I understand your point on the litigious nature of our society. I was merely commenting on how retarded it is for people to bitch about the offers new Directv customers get when the same thing happens across most service industries. Those of us that don't sue everyone for anything, bitch about being wronged. I'm bitching about being wronged, I understand marketing, but what they are doing isn't right by their long time clients. I started off about 10 years ago paying $199 for the service, last year or the year before is was $350. This year I get it for free because I bitched, not because they felt it was only right to charge me the going rate. I had to threaten to drop their service to get it. I'm proud to be a hillbilly, my family has lived here since 1799.
WG53
The idea that longtime customers are being wronged because of an incentive given to new customers to sign up is ridiculous.
abenjami
I forgot to do this. Today I received a flyer in the mail from Directv offering their "Best Deal Ever" to new subscribers. I made the call. The first guy I got offered me $20 off for 12 months. I told him I was just going to cancel and sign up as a new subscriber and asked to be transferred to customer retention. Here is what I got: Sunday Ticket Max for 50% off $20 off my bill for the next 12 months $5 off HBO for 6 months $5 off Showtime for 6 months $6.50 off Stars for 6 months Total Savings = $489 = Free Sunday Ticket Max plus $189 in discounts
currage
I called last week and got Sunday ticket max for free. I did have to agree to a one year agreement though. I've been out of contract for 7 years and this is the first time I've agreed to another contract. I also got $15 off for the next 12 months. I tried to get the new HMC receiver, but they would only give me $250 off of the $400 price. So, I'll hold off on that!
TitansWycheck89
Im hearing that on Sept. 1st they are offering PS3 users Sunday ticket for $149.99 with a monthly payment option. Has anyone on the board used the Sunday Ticket app on PS3 last year? Its my only option and I think its better then going to BWW or some other waterhole bar. Titanstattoo25
If anyone is signing up for directv (new subscriber) let me know. You can say I referred you and give them my account number when you place the order (before the install) and we each will get $100 bucks off. ( 10 dollars off each bill for 10 months)
juggaman
When the viacom channels were taken away, I got Sunday Ticket for free. If I want ST Max, its $100. I got some other credits, but ST was the main thing I went for. Its too late for that now, unfortunately, but I've seen plenty of people in the past work the system and get it for free. They told me that they were offering ST to SOME of their consumers with the signing of a 1-year agreement. Good luck. Tell the prompts that you want to cancel and talk to the retention department. They are the ones that can help you as regular customer service can do NOTHING.

currage
I'm on the verge of canceling dtv bc of the hassles I've had with them in the last week. I got ST Max fror free and $15 off a month for the next year but my receiver was screwing up and they sent me a new one. Installed it and now the sound is jacked up. The right channel buzzes constantly, but only when directv is selected I pay $6 a month for their protection plan and they didnt want to send a replacement unit or send out a technician. They threaten you with a service charge if there isn't something wrong with their equipment. The entire call they tried to sell me on thir new whole home warranty for another $20 a month, which does me no good right now. Finally got her to place the service call and hopefully they'll just replace the receiver Thursday. The "technical" support employees are clueless about home theater equipment. I've been with dtv for 10 years and this is my first issue. I'd change providers if it wasn't for the ST and the great picture quality. Sorry for the rant!
