Perused enough from folks who read it to gather that.  We all know what transpired last 1.5.   Feel a bit like classic case of reading one's press clippings wee bit too much for D & D.

"OH MY GOD CARL, WONDERWALL IS 30 YEARS OLD TODAY. THAT'S THE BEST SONG EVER! WE SHOULD HAVE A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR IT. MONGO LOVES BIRTHDAY PARTIES!"

(Funny how the tags have so many options including "Movies" and "Television" but not "Books")   I think many here will dig this series.  As the title suggests, it uses a "dungeon crawler" th

That one's not as bad as some other ones but everything I've ever found in terms of clothing or shit is AI generated and it actively pisses me off.

I was going to get something Dungeon Crawler Carl themed for a ugly sweater contest but I couldn't find anything that was even remotely authentic feeling.

Don't recall if it's mentioned in this thread but I find it hilarious what Dinniman did prior to publishing this series. He knows exactly the culture he's spoofing with a certain character and it makes everything she says and does all that much funnier to me:

MD: So, the idea of a death-game sort of book has always been on my mind. Combine that with when I was an artist, I used to travel to cat shows. I would go to cat shows and I'd draw pictures of people's cats for a living, that's what I would do. I would go from cat show to cat show and I would see all these, if you've ever been, there's little cages and all the cats are in there, and then they take them out and they judge them. And it's a lot of fun [laughs].

SD: I'm sure [laughs].

MD: There was a very specific breed of cat, the Persian cats with the tortoiseshell coloring are pretty rare. I was once set up right next to a Persian cat, and the little thing was just staring at me the whole time, this tiny little cat, and I was like, “I'm going to write a book with that cat in it one day.” And I combined the two and I wasn't even sure I was going to keep the cat in the book, honestly. I wasn't expecting that cat to become fully sapient like Princess Donut had, because I kind of just make it up as I go along. I'm so happy I just started writing at that particular day at that particular time, because it all seemed to work out pretty well.

SD: Yeah, I can't imagine the story without Princess Donut.

MD: No, no. I don't think anybody can.

Now you're ready for fan theories.

That's what really was driving me to keep going to that next chapter.  Now I can find new playgrounds online until May (or the Croc comic).

Why wear clothes? If you have to wash your clothes and you have to wash your body, if you wear no clothe, you only have to wash your body, which you did anyway. So you save washing 50%.

Finished book 7 this week.  The change of scope slowed me down.

That's a very good way of putting it. I'm about 2/3 way through.  Feels mostly all ramped up, all the time. Which given total war scenario I get.  But drains your energy after a while as a reader.  And so many characters getting quick referenced but no longer explored much makes it actually feel shallower.  Like the scene with Tserendolgor in the previous book's close was a nice moment to flesh out her character.  Those moments missing more in Book 7 than in all the prior ones.

Not done yet so maybe will change my mind by the end.

On side note been imagining some massive white board and/pr spreadsheets Matt must keep to track all the abilites/spells, references, foreshadowed moments and so on.  A LOT to keep track of.  Book 7 also makes me wonder if he has ever consulted with others in terms of what COULD happen based on what he has laid out already in terms of war strategy and the like.

Either I read it somewhere or I just imagined it - but I think he has a spreadsheet with details for each character and known items/abilities/etc.
