9 Nines
I think I have a high ankle sprain. My posterior inferior tibiofibular ligament an inch or so above my heel is painful to the touch. I can jog on it with only discomfort - not really panful. It is only painful if I full press on it. Does that sound like a high ankle sprain or are they only above your front ankle? It has never been sore in my life, but the discomfort probably came from my jump rope jogging as I shuffle my steps to time the rope each time, so it is probably changing the force on my ankle each rope skip as a I jog. The soreness is on the very bottom of the long skinny ligament, right below your calf. The most soreness is directly level with my lateral malleolus (ankle knob things). SleepingTitan
Ankle sprains suck. It really depends on where it is (front, side, below or above). If you look at the anatomy, some of the ligament is smaller than the others. You don't want a strain in the smaller ones. I had a tear in the smallest one right in front of the ankle in the little depression of the foot, and it still flares up. The PT said it will never really fully heal because it's so small and the load on it is so great. It's the one that controls the cantering of your foot from left to right. That was the only injury I had playing sports. It was very swollen and it took days before I could walk.
