The Metal Thread

would love to see these dudes.  Back to Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka soon so ???? 😅

Really just love how American metal crossed borders and made people fall in love with it.  Like jazz (looking at you Prague), blues, r n b, rap, hip hop et al.

We won by modern era Cultural Victory long ago, and are just choosing to Play On at this point.

I saw Metallica on tour for the black album back in 1991 at the Pyramid arena in Memphis and there was no opening act and they played over three hours. I like everything up through 1998 Garage Da

I always wanted to start a metal thread. Share some good metal tunes!   Haiduk kicks it off

I saw Gojira in concert not long ago. It was my first metal concert at a small venue

That opening riff reminds me of late-80s hair metal!  Or GNR.

The rest of song made me want to see a collage of anime characters fighting impossible beasts.

They come up on my playlists i've made as a "smart suggestion" yet I skip everyone of their songs. I gave them a try. Just don't like them. To each their own.

I love me some Dethklok but I doubt that's everyone's cup of tea.

saw them at Naadam opening ceremony then they played pop up show at grand square next to our hotel.  Love these guys.

Love the Hu.

I like that they've done quite a few songs with American musicians as well.  Izzy Hale and Jacoby Shaddix both did vocals on some of their tracks.

Those Cultural victories are a lot harder than domination or religious victories...

I would've personally not chosen that concert. My son is a big band nerd, plays a lot of instruments. Outside of school he's in a jazz fusion and metal band. I had to shuttle the kids, but it was actually really cool. I like Slipknot, Pantera, old Metallica. Can't say Gojira is on my playlist either. I like their message though!

One man death metal live

In Death Metal - not my usual genre - I caught Six Feet Under and Nile a few months back.  Had a good time.

In a more theatrical vein, you HAVE to check out Castle Rat.  Holy shit did I have a great fucking time.  If they play near you, you owe yourself to go check them out.  They are playing tiny venues, but sell out everywhere.  So if they do show up, don't wait on the tickets.
