earlers
Sorry that I made a separate post for this but this just makes me sick. When I heard Williams talk about twisting Vernon Davis ankle, it immediately triggered the thought of CJ in the playoff game. Yeah, Williams didn't coach for the Ravens but it just pisses me off that that type of crap goes on. Initially, when I heard about this bounty stuff, it didn't bother me that much but when I hear about guys twisting ankles at bottom of piles, that's blatant cheating. The Saints Super Bowl may have to be vacated. I know that sounds crazy but it's cheating to me.

I have seen a guy kicked full force to the head when he was laying in the pile. I have been bitten at the bottom of piles. Ive had my ankles twisted purposely had guys drop on my knees. I have been poked in the eyes on purpose. The shit happens. All this it makes me sick shit gets old. It goes on in highschool to the pros and it is going to keep going on. Watch another sport if it makes you sick.
rhonderoo
So, it's wrestling then, not football? It's one thing to me to hit hard, but if they can't play within the rules and win, then they might as well all be bringing baseball bats and we can just have a thunder dome. If they cant play by the rules they mise well bring baseball bats? So if a corner gets some pushing and grabbing in on a wideout or an Olineman gets away with a hold. Thats not playing by the rules. So in that case I guess they need bats to. smh

It has always happened in football. Nothing new. Get over it.

So if a corner gets some pushing and grabbing in on a wideout or an Olineman gets away with a hold. Thats not playing by the rules. So in that case I guess they need bats to. smh there's obviously a difference there. everything isn't so black and white. if a CB takes off his helmet and starts beating a WR before the snap... is that the same thing? no, there are acceptable but stil penalized levels... after that there should be ejections or, for repeated offenders, suspensions. I've played football and been subject to punches/eye-poking and junk-grabbing attempts/leg-twisting on the bottom of piles. you can understand it has been part of the game, however it doesn't make it right, OK, necessary, or even productive. sure it has some history in the game but it adds nothing to the game at all and only takes away. i mean you can't even see what is going on in a pile... so for the observing sickos there is no visual reward. Played middle school then switched to only bball in High School. I get it with a dirty player but a coach telling someone to do it. That's totally different in my eyes. You're always going to have a couple of dirty players but when you have a coach instructing everyone to be dirty...that's a different game.
scine09
There's absolutely no doubt that the Ravens injured Johnson purposely. That being said, I am also certain that the Titans were doing similar things throughout Fisher's tenure. I'm amazed that Fisher hasn't been implicated yet. Or Rex Ryan and Jim Schwartz, for that matter.
Alpha
I had an assistant coach actually drill how to do it properly in high school. He actually supported us taking jiu-jitsu to learn proper ankle locks and everything. Happens at every stage of the game (even in peewee).
rhonderoo
Again, happened before, happens all the time, happens on every team, yada yada, blah blah blah.. whatever. Doesn't make it right or good sportsmanship, or even the way to win. Racial profiling, war, rape and murder happen all the time, doesn't mean I have to "get over it". What a lame response. Obviously, it's a problem and I'm not the only one that thinks so, or we wouldn't be here talking about it.
Justafan
Rex Ryan, GW, and JF all learned under the same man...Buddy Buddy was the dirtiest coach i've ever seen.... I really miss that guy.
Jamalisms
I think pointing out how common it is, is more an indictment of the NFL and hypocrisy than a defense of the specific actions. It's also an bit of a 'hate the game, not the players' type thing. It is a redirect of attention.
