I wonder what his issue is. I'm thinking maybe his weaknesses were being hidden by other players. Maybe the line is individually sick of making up for everybody else's shit. Lewan and Spain are our best guys. Scary. FA might be weak next year, but there will be a good amount of linemen avail. I say we draft a tackle that is really an NFL G, somebody nasty with a penchant for running people over, draft an oversized center to fight for the job, and bring in a better G. which is even more mind boggling when you think about running right instead of left on that 4th and 1. i think jones is just not meant for this scheme. i think there will be a couple of options at G and C that are better fits. Not huge upgrades as players.. but at least they are scheme fits.

He's allowed to beter sense trouble, even if it arrives quickly. #Titans I was talking about this in the game thread when it was happening. These things add up and go into the overall performance of a QB. Mariota could just look and see where the rush is going to come and step away to buy time. These are spots where a QB can really beat a defense.

There is simply no rational way to lay everything at Mariota's feet yet you do so every week. Plenty of posters criticize Marcus but you also see them criticize other players too. With you and a few others it's the same old song-shit on Marcus and give everyone else a pass.

I will try to give someone else shit. Adoree. Quit having him return punts. He's too valuable at his position. I would have him return them in big games, like playoffs. LaFleur--Got away from passing early. The pass was working, then he started getting the team off schedule with running on first down. Compounded with running second down. Vrabel-Made huge error going for it when three points would make the score 13-14. When the attempt failed, huge mo shift went to the Texans. They got so damn excited they run up the middle for 95 yards and a score. Now the Texans are running on premium and the Titans are running on leaded gas. Ego driven call, he'll improve-but that really hurt his team. It showed the Texans they could take our best shot and could run all over the Titans. I like Vrabel but that may have lost him the game. Vrabel-LaFluer-The play they called when they went for it was weakl. Bad. In that situation you put the ball in the hands of just a few players. Mariota. Henry. Davis. Sharpe is sure handed enough that I might throw him the ball. That's it. Mariota-War and Peace It's not that I get after Mariota so much as I get attacked, called ridiculous names and thrashed for saying anything about him. A lot of the things I have said, plenty other people are saying one week and waffling away the next. I never said anything about bad play by Mariota last year, the entire season. It doesn't mean I didn't see any.

I don't think MLF has made it that far in his OC career to consider player over package. I believe this whole staff needs a check up from the neck up on trusting guys, packages. 1.) Throw to Taywan in clutch? 2.) Run it with your TE who has NEVER taken a handoff? The list is fucking endless. High level, logic choices aren't being scrutinized. These things are easy to catch--real wtf were you thinking moments. I think in the heat of the battle they overlook these choices and trust their players to execute, never considering the big picture. That must change quickly if they wanna stay in their positions in the league else they will get demoted like Wade Phillips.

AvgJoe
It might be impossible to replace all 3 members of the interior Oline and honestly I don’t think Spain is the problem. We need to sign Paradis if he becomes available and either sign a Guard in FA or draft one in the mid rounds.

They have to know who fits the play and as you mentioned THE MOMENT. The Philly game, going for it, last play of the game, you don't throw that ball to anybody except Davis. The TE hand off was a surprise, but how many times has he shoved up in there in a huge game, huge play moment and converted. He was probably nervous as hell thinking, whatever, don't fumble. But I give these guys passes. They are working with what they have. First time HC. First time OC/play caller. They will grow and have already shown great promise in other situations. I think it would be a huge error to start jumping Vrabel/LaFleur at this point. Nobody in the organization is perfect, they all have flaws. It's too early to judge some of them. I think unfortunately Spain (since his contract is up and Robinson seems to not value him) is the most likely to be replaced, and then either Kline OR Jones will be replaced (but not both). I'll be surprised if Paradis is allowed to hit the market anyway.

It's ok to point out the problems, as we've all done, but these growing pains are to be expected. Vegas had us at 6.5 wins. Vrabel has exceeded my expectations. Even his press conf's are leaps ahead and we're barely over half way. I expect big things next year and the year after. I do think we can safely put to bed the idea that MLF will jump ship for HC next year, or even the year after. These guys are building something here, starting on a decent foundation that...gulp...Mularkey helped build w/Jrob and AAS. It's tough to swallow given how the last decade has gone. We keep hearing the same promises, but I believe them this time. Jury is still out on Mariota though. I would prefer a pocket passer. I hate RPO's.
