List of Players whom the Titans have talked to/interviewed

With all the underclassmen declaring (was it a record? didn't people say this wouldn't happen anymore with the rookie cap? suckers!), this draft is really deep. We should be able to get a starter in each of the first 3 rounds...quality starters, too. If Decastro or Konz is there at 20, either would be a great pick, but if not, I think I'd wait until the 3rd or 4th to draft an OL, despite the need. Go for the guys with elite talent in the first, the kind of guys you just don't find in later rounds, like a top DE or DT, or perhaps a guy like Barron, since safety is not so good this year.

Impossible to know who the Titans will target in each round at this point. The Titans have a number of positions where they could use impact players and they'll probably have a group of 4-5+ players from at least 3 positions on their short list as their draft pick is coming up. Who the Titans take will totally depend on what players fall and how the draft day goes.

He supposedly struggles to catch the ball (I've only seen one game where he did well) at times and there's some other deficiencies to his game. I think the fourth round is probably where he ends up. If I'm the Titans I still target Fuller first around the third or fourth round and potentially take a guy like Robinson if he's off the board.

well let me clearify some more.. i'm not saying they take him in the 2nd regardless. I'm saying they could take him in the 2nd if he does really well during the scouting process and answers a lot of questions about him.

I think a guy like Barron would also be interesting in the 2nd... not sure where he's valued at though. I was thinking early to late 2nd but I could be wrong. I haven't paid as close attention to the draft this year.

Barron will probably be off the board in the first if he times well at the combine although I think he has second round value. I think the second round for Robinson in this draft is very very high for a guy that doesn't have much of a career resume and struggled at times to catch the ball cleanly. I still like him as he has potential but if you really look at all the prospects available from all the positions there's no way he's going there.

As I kind of implied, I think Barron will go higher than he should because the leap between him and the next best S is so far.

Actually the drop off from Barron to Harrison Smith isn't all that great. Smith is very underrated and he had great Senior Bowl week so far.

You're rating him as a 3rd or 4th rounder. If he does well in the workouts, it's conceivable for a player w/ his measureables to raise his stock 1 round and become a 2nd/3rd rounder. Do I think it'll happen? no clue but to say "no way he's going there" is a bit of a stretch imo.

So if it happened and the Titans did take him in the 2nd, it would be interesting b/c it would mean they thought very highly of him.

I'll admit it's possible but it's definitely improbable. Who would you drop out of the second or even third round range to put Robinson there? There's 65 Juniors in this class and a lot of talented players at critical positions. There's a lot of talented receivers in this class as well.

That's the thing, there's only 64 players in the second round every year. Never more or less. Robinson is not a Top 64 player. It's even possible that Robinson isn't selected until the 5th round or later.

He doesn't have to be a top 65 player, just a top 83 player for the Titans to consider him in the 2nd. if they like him more than the other WRs available and they think he'll be gone by the 3rd then they could very easily take him in the 2nd.

So if they like him that much and took him in the 2nd, it would be interesting. Again, not saying it'll happen but it would be very interesting if it did.

I thought Smith was considered more of a straight strong safety candidate, which in today's NFL seems like a liability. You think they grade out that close? Where do you see Smith going then?

They both are strong safeties really. (Barron and Smith). I think Smith is very underrated because there's a perception that he's not athletic enough or too tight hipped. He's highly athletic though and has better hips (agility) than given credit for. He plays like a taller safety (gets leggy) because he's 6'-2". However is instincts are elite, he trusts his eyes and he's very physical. I honestly think Barron gets a boost because he played on a better team.

I'd value Barron about mid second to late second while I'd value Smith late second to early third. He's a very good football player and he's going to get a lot more attention soon.

Not his best game by any means but you get an idea of his versatility. Plays both safety positions, blitzes, makes a heads up play in coverage and so on. He's at his best coming downhill to tackle but is a good wrap up tackler in general.

No link, but I have it on good authority we have talked multiple times with Peter Konz

That made my day. I alwasy figured we would be looking at Brewster for a possible 2nd/3rd round pick with great value, but Konz is easily the best center, and it would show that the team is willing to invest high picks to solidify the trenches.

I think its time to upgrade the interior OL spot either RG or center and theres actually 3 to 4 that could go in the first round where we pick. I like Konz because of his mobility and hes not small. Usually a moblie center is barely 300 lbs but Konz is 315. He would be a huge upgrade to amano. But if we go with a free agent Center then I like Zeitler over Decastro at RG. Zeitler is built like Steve Hutchinson and displays a lot of power and hes still mobile enough to pull.

I really dont see us go LB at 20 with 2 one year players at the LB position. I can still see Witherspoon/McGrath interchange throughout next season. We'll possibly find a WLB later in the draft.

At DE theres a lot of tweeners and we are looking for a RDE and not a LDE, and the only one I see at 20 that fits the bill is Mercilus Whitney. Without the combine its hard to gauge where he will go. JPPs measurables launched him into the middle of the first round so if Whitney puts up ridiculous numbers at the combine he could be gone by the time we pick. Im a fan of Ingram but I just dont see how he would fit here, his skillset would best be suited at OLB in a 3-4.
