Something I've been meaning to post..... I've heard Benoit and Breer both talking about the NFL defensive coaches pouring over college tape and talking to college DCs about RPOs and they will stop that shit. DCs always do. In the end the teams that have QBs that can throw accurate passes from the pocket will win over time.

nine
Foles had a hell of a postseason and his Super Bowl MVP was well deserved...but it's not the first time a QB has gotten red-hot at the exact right time and played way over his head to win a championship. Joe Flacco had an even more incredible hot streak than Foles once upon a time...but in the five years since that happened, he's never played anywhere close to that level; now he's a lame duck QB who will be out of a job in 6 months or less. Foles put up three great games in a row at the most critical time of the season and won a championship...and I'm happy for the guy. But personally, I'll probably wait until he puts up at least a half-season of quality play before proclaiming him a top 10-15 QB.
TerryBoats
1 hour ago, OILERMAN said: The Mariota vs Wentz comparisons def are Mariota was better as a rookie than Wentz, despite a significantly worse supporting cast and coaching staff. Wentz looked exponentially better and more polished in Year 2 than Year 1, showing nearly perfect mechanics last year, while Mariota still has technical issues which have plagued him since Year 1. People put too much stock into that season that Foles had under Kelly. It was pretty similar to the one good year that Matt Cassel had outside of NE, with a very low INT count and a high TD count which wasn't typical for a QB who throws for such a low yardage total (<3,000 yards). That's basically what Wentz had last year. The Eagles' QBs combined for under 4,000 yards, but 38 TDs. That's insane and I hardly see that as being sustainable. Brady had like 800 more yards and 6 fewer TDs. He threw for 5,200 yards the last time that he had over 38 TDs (39 was his total) People also put too much stock in 2017 Mariota. During his entire career, he's been excellent in the red zone and at taking care of the ball through the air. 2017 was the outlier. What I want to see is him be able to throw for over 4,000 yards. I don't care to see him have a high TD/low INT season like Foles or Wentz. He has proven in the past that he can put up points and limit INTs, which is a great starting point. I just want to see him carry an offense.
japan
Bottom line: Mariota in Peterson’s offense is tearing it up while throwing to schemed wide open receivers - like Wentz and Foles.

Why, his stats to this point are better the Wentz but all are ready to proclaim him as a top 5 QB after being hot for 10 games as you put it.

Agholor was absolutely terrible his first two season, Matthews is a spare and the 3rd guy was our boy DGB who started 7 games. Worst WR core in the league Wentz's rookie season. RBs, Ryan Matthews, Smallwood and Sproles. Terrible RB core and their OL was a mess. Wentz's rookie season started out great, it fell apart mainly because their OL crumbled with Lane Johnson's 10 game suspension, then they started losing starters and even the back-ups got hurt. Mariota had a bad supporting cast as well but it's not like they didn't both suck The Eagles signed two new starting WRs, signed Blount and traded for Ajayi at RB. Football outsiders ranked Wentz rookie season better than Mariota's rookie season.

Wanting 4000 yards while not caring if he has a high TD/INT ratio is about as retarded as it gets. 4000 yards is completely meaningless depending on the context while having a high TD/INT ratio is absolutely correlated to winning. I never said otherwise. If everyone in the world knew he was going number 1 no matter what why would you bother calling them for trades?
