It'll make their defense better. I'm just saying, in order for them to be substantially better to the point of us needing to fear their defense, they will need to really improve that secondary and pass rush imo. I posted in another thread about this. An off ball LBer in the top 5-10 is pretty rare but with the Colts running the Tampa 2, it makes sense. The WLB in this scheme is so important. In Polian's book he discussed this. He said the 3 most important spots in the cover 2 are the 3 tech, WLB, and SS, which he said aside from the 3 tech obviously the other 2 positions aren't considered as important as corner & edge in most other schemes. Face
I'm not at all surprised about all the interior OL being predicted to go in the 1st now. This was always considered a great interior OL draft, best in years. They were forgotten about for a while in the mock drafts but these guys are some of the best players in the draft. I really think Ragnow or Hernandez would be the BPA at our spot.
socaljake
Rapoport just mentioned us as a team looking to trade down
SirLanceALot
Rapoport just said on Up To The Minute that the Titans are a team that are looking to trade down to acquire more picks. Goes with what JRob was saying yesterday.
socaljake
Wolfe also predicted today we will trade down, possibly even out of the 1st round
rns90
Actually, I want one of those G's available at our pick. Gives up an option to trade with some team desperate for IOL. It depends who is on the board; stud pass rasher no way I trade down. Also, if we trade out of Round 1, I'd like a high 2019 pick.

There's advantages & disadvantages. And BTW when I say Tampa 2, I don't really mean the exact version of it, just the overall philosophy of a 4-3, primarily rushing 4, shooting gaps, rarely blitzing, playing mostly zone, etc. I consider Schwartz's system to be in this family, though he's a little more exotic in coverage & more reckless in having the front 4 only focus on getting upfield after the QB. I actually expect our scheme this year to be quite conservative, mostly sending 4 & playing safe zones. The difference is we'll play more 2 gap on running downs & can vary where the 4 pass rushers come from with creative blitz's....

I'll be very surprised if we don't play man at least 60% of the time based on Pees recent history and our personnel.

socaljake
I wonder if this is another sign of the IOL run that's been speculated. I think MIN may want to move up to grab one of those IOL.
titanskick8851
This tell me we are comfortable with a number of prospects between say 28-32, or even back into the middle of the second round. I have a feeling they like Sweat, Nwosu, Armstrong, Leonard, Bates, Reid and they are perfectly comfortable picking up the extra picks to slide back 3-10 spots. True, with Adoree & Butler I'd imagine we'll play a good amount of man. But I think the coverages called will be conservative, I don't think we'll leave guys on as Island as much as we did with LeBeau. I do wonder about how Adoree is best utilized though. He improved so much last year, he was much more reliable & steady in coverage then I think anyone really expected. JRob took a bit of a risk on him because of his ability to play the ball, which I think is more of an innate skill. The way he tracked WR's on the deep ball & got his head around to play the ball was very advanced. His numbers on contested catches was tremendous, especially considering his size. That said, despite not having a pick last year, his ball skills are so good, and he's so dangerous with the ball in hand, and he's also a good tackler to boot, that Im not sure he wouldn't really excel in zone, where he can sit back & bait the QB. He'd be a pick 6 machine. He's probably too talented in man though, and that's one position you don't want to mess with if you have.

GLinks
Skip to where you think the Titans will be in the video. Trade at 25, picks at 42, 57.
