Jesus did we know he was coming on? I would have sent in about 100 questions for the guy.

Great guest. Historically speaking, he is as insightful a guy you can have come on to talk about this org.

Before the days og the internet John McLain was the information pipeline for this org to out of towners like me. He wrote all the national preview stuff you would get in the magazines in pre season and he did it very well.

He's one of the good guys for sure I just wish I had known he was coming on. Also, every email I ever sent him he answered but I don't bug him much.

We should get him on a chat. Looking forward to listening to this later.

We found out Sunday and mentioned it in a thread somewhere, but didn't blast the info in case he was a no-show.

In fact, we all freaked out because when we first called him Tuesday night... the number came up as disconnected. I felt like that guy at a bar who got some hot chick's number, only to call it the next day and find out it wasn't real.

Guru emailed him again and he sent us the correct area code.

If defenders are consistently setting up in the backfield then let me be the first to say Chris Johnson is completely blameless. Not only he is blameless in the problems with the running game he's had one of the all time great seasons as far as RBs go. To have almost 1000yds under this scenario is amazing.

Good job not going overboard bashing CJ and fairly evaluating the OL.

Has CJ hit the hole with authority, made decisive cuts, made defenders miss, and run with the burst we've become accustomed to? Not for a much of the season. Have the Olinemen kept defenders out of the backfield and out of CJ's face and held their ground when being charged by the Dline? Not for much of the season.

You mean it reminded you of your college years?

Interesting that I don't see any comments regarding McClain's remarks on Babin.

Lets assume McClain actually had the inside scoop on Babin and was dead on.

Gray wanted the DE's to play in tighter and stop the run? Well that's failed miserably, the Titans DEs are terrible against the run and even worse rushing the passer. Jason Jones is worse against the run than Babin is.

Worse than that after the season the Titans have one DE under contract, Morgan who has been a flop so far. It's a weak year in the draft and free agency for DEs. They could use Babin even more next season than this season.

I like Gray but if they don't upgrade the DE position this defense is not going anywhere.

Excellent job, guys. Very impressive that you were able to get him on here. I've been listening to him and reading him in the Chronicle for 25 years.

The only thing is, isn't it about time for Nashville to get it's own John McClain? He's as knowledgeable as they come, but the team left Houston 15 years ago. Who's considered the best NFL writer in Nashville?
