Is the situation with Odell worth keeping an eye on?

LOL!

We should be happy to have OBJ. Look at our receivers. I will sacrifice whatever animal I need to sacrifice to whatever cursed god to get this guy on the field if I'm a GM.

He's a special talent I agree. Yeah, the antics are annoying, but I'd trade a 1st for him in a heartbeat and live with those antics considering his production and ability. He's a weird guy, but I don't think he's a malcontent. If you have a good locker room, I think it can be managed with him as long as it's only him. I wouldn't want a bunch of guys with his personality on the team. Playing in a huge market like NY doesn't help him.

"Worth keeping an eye on"???? The media won't give us a choice but to have this story forced down our throat every week

IMO the victim of the media card is, at this point, becoming pretty weak. Do you know how many options you have when it comes to consuming media? Are you really having to deal with OBJ news this much?

Huh? I was just noting how there is nothing "worth keeping an eye on"... usually that means you pay closer attention to something. The fact that there are Odell references everywhere you go made it a perfect opportunity for some sarcasm. Not sure what got your feathers ruffled.

I think the point is if you are interested in following the NFL you will get a whole lot of Odell news as opposed to much else...maybe some other malcontents or dallas shit.  At least Dallas is winning now so they deserve some coverage.  Obviously you can pretty much see what you want on your computer and get info you want but if you are sitting in a bar or just watching a sports channel at home these types of stories dominate the news cycle.  Would be nice if a channel dedicated to the NFL that is on 24/7 spread the love a bit.

He is definitely not a J Rob kind of guy.

He's not, but I'd still take him. A playmaker like him in the passing game is badly needed and he's a special talent. And he'd fit Mariota's skillset to a tee. Only 23.

Feathers aren't ruffled. This point makes sense.

The original "media cramming it down our throats" is a tired piece of rhetoric IMO, that's all.

This x 1000. As much as I hated Tim Tebow and how much I hated the coverage of it, the data showed a pretty clear correlation on ratings and Tebow coverage.

The media and the government are reflections of the people. Point blank, period.

yeah signing one of the best players at his position would be a huge mistake....it's this kind of weird backwards thinking that allows you guys to be happy with shit talent acquisition year in and year out. TO and Randy Moss were on plenty of great teams. TO was an easy scapegoat for the media.

First off, show me one post where I said I was happy with Douglas or AJ. They are on the team because they are professionals and you can count on them being in the right place but they aren't going to scare any defences either. Guys that are always saying "me, me, me" are a distraction from the work that needs to be done. At some point the baggage outweighs the talent. Do I want a beast receiver to stretch the field for Mariota? Hell yes. But it's not OBJ and I'm a Giants fan from way back. This franchise is finally making some good decisions for the first time in a decade or more. We have a good locker room. I think that's really important not to regress from that.

OBJ has gotten a lot of negative pub for a reason. He yanks off his helmet after scoring the winning TD against the Ravens and gets a penalty. Stupid. If the Ravens had taken advantage of the field position on the ensuing kickoff and won the game, you can be sure he would be taking heat from his coach, his team and the fans. McAdoo has already said, "We can't have that and he knows we can't have that." That's a "look at me!" move. TO is another whole  conversation.

I'm not condoning OBJ's behavior, I'm also not letting that be a reason to not get a player of that ilk.

Man, TO, was a headcase, but he worked his ass off and he was one of the best blocking wide outs I've ever seen.

He'd love it here. Blow the guy in front of you up for 3 plays in a row and then go moss somebody.

Yes, I bet if we allowed him to do that, he would demand a trade to us immediately.

I just don't get this man.

There is a scenario where the Ravens could have won by virtue of executing from better field position--it's arguable. But you can't really argue that they would have been in the game without OBJ's 8 catches for 222 yards and 2 tds.

It's a phenomenal, game breaking performance. And while he's outspoken and will get the occasional penalty, what evidence do we have that he isn't doing what he's supposed to do on the field. What evidence do we really have about what he's like with his teammates or in the locker room, what the perception of him is? Some coach speak comments from McAdoo?

We have all kinds of players like this in every sport. You don't have to be completely quiet and unassuming to be a championship caliber player.

A lot of the best athletes in the world will have passion. They have to learn to manage it, sure. And some are such headcases that they may ultimately cost certain teams and organizations. I don't see that with Beckham at all and I'd take him on this team in a heartbeat.
