How about the speed Grant showed on the Newton tackle?

OSU LB on a championship team with that kind of closing speed? Why did he go undrafted? Too small?

That's a Damifino if there ever was one.

Like somebody posted elsewhere,...

What was Grant doing playing with our ones?  Those were the Ones right?

I mean seriously, he was a UDFA that spent time with the Chargers and the Falcons last year, and didn't stick.  So why was he in the game against CAR's first team offense?

Shouldn't he have been strictly a 2nd half guy?

I'm convinced, we really aren't seeing what this defense is all about.  DLB isn't showing the league jack-shit in the pre-season.

I like Grant.

The way he brought Newton down was a thing of beauty and I don't think has been done in the NFL

i even bet Cam was embarrased as fuck

If he keeps that up I'll vote for him to get a captain's patch.  Even the announcer commented on his closing speed.

I think that's right. We had some of our ones out there still....well, some of the people who started a preseason game anyway. But not our true ones for regular season. I don't think Orakpo was in the game, for example, and I'm pretty sure Blackson was in over Jones. Can't tell who's NT, with our 1 and 2 being 'Woods'!

The thing about Avery is that he mostly lacks NFL athleticism.  His value is in consistency. In his career, up to this point, he has been a solid tackler (especially against the run) and he's usually in the right place (he's a smart player.)  He's mostly terrible at blitzing and in pass coverage (due to his lack of NFL athleticism.)  He's very good if he has a great LB beside him that can draw the defense's attention.

His ceiling would be becoming a team captain while being Robin to an elite linebackers Batman.  He'll never be able to take over a game, but can be that dude who rarely gets injured while being supremely reliable. With that being said, if his consistent tackling and smart play regress, then he's virtually worthless and would need to be replaced immediately.
