Where does DGB rank as Titan Bust at WR?

I think it mostly goes back to something Robinson said back when he got hired. He doesn't like projects.

Rookies obviously take time to develop, but DGB was a major project. And I guess they wanted to see how he would look in training camp before doing anything, but once it became clear that he still was a project they were ready to move him.

That's not to say that the project that is DGB will never pan out. Just that they don't want to be the team to waste the time developing him.

EE Yous see an excuse.  I see facts.  Aren't you the one that posted the tape of all of his targets last year?  If you were throwing the ball and knew he struggled with routes, positioning and catches, how much faith would you have in him?  The evidence is all over that tape.

Not in wethe right spot, not getting his head around, and then hit him in the hands and he drops it.

TSorry, but that's not an NFL level receiver, but he was a rook,...

So this year he comes to camp having the same simplified playbook as everyone else, for the same length of time, and he doesn't know where to line up.

Not good.

Then the reports of drops everyday out of camp.  Fails to release downfield on a go-route in the first preseason game, playing lackadaisically at best.

Not good.

People thought a lot of things about DGB.  2 OTAs, 1 rookie camp, 2 mini-camps and 2nd TC and he's still blowing plays others are making, and the evidence is right in front of you.  What we thought doesn't appear to be reality.  I was dying' for the kid to succeed.  What a monster he could be if he used that massive frame, long arms and leggy speed the way he should consistently.  The guy would be freaking UNstoppable.  Tell Mke Evans and Julio Jones to take a back seat, DGB's in da house.

Didn't happen.  Dammit!

Needs yet another kick in the ass.

I don't think so either.  Between the lack of QB talent and the nature of Philly Phans, I think he's Screwed.  (Note the capital "S").

But hey, that's just me.

We'll see.  But even if he does pan out in 3-4 years, that still shouldn't reflect badly on the Titans.  He just wasn't ready during his time here.

I think it has less to do with Green Beckhams play then most!

He wasn't a star out there but he also wasn't a horrible WR last year at all. His play exceeded expectation even from ones who believed he would have an impact.

But I think it has everything to do with what kind of WR's they want on this team and I don't think DGB fit that type of Reciever.

He is not the kind of guy Robinson would take or even want. They want smart players with good character and team first guys. They want guys who will do the little things without being told to be better players and improve this team. He didn't do the little things to improve as a player such as dropping the weight before he was told or studying the playbook, being prepared. Yeah Everyone would rather have them guys who study and work 12 months of the year but in reality a ton of players and a lot of really good players don't either. It's more important early on especially when having a difficult time learning an offense but that doesn't mean he's not dedicated or that he won't be successful.

Their drafting and the players they took its obvious the kind of team they want to be. Robinson would have never drafted DGB!

And the fact that Rishard will be starting and Ta'jae has exceeded their expectations. He put a strangle hold on the other starting spot very early on that has made DGB expendable. They have Kendall and will play him in the slot that's where he has been practicing and lining up 90% of the time. They signed Johnson they like him and they have Douglas, Hunter and McBride all fighting to stay. I do think Hunter will be cut though.

I think they feel good about Sharpe and Mathews starting, Kendall in the slot and Johnson getting significant playing time and providing solid depth. Im not saying how the players will be, that's what I believe they are thinking. And Honestly I do not think much of the guy as a player but I think they are higher on Douglas as a player and person then anyone else is.

Another thing is that they were in the market for a certain back up position and we don't have many backups with trade value. DGB had trade value and trading him would not have a big negative impact on the team this coming year.

And I love the mindset they want consistent players right now but I do believe they gave up  on him to soon.

He had rare Size/Speed you don't find many guys who at 6'5 237 pounds can run a 4'4. That's a very big fast guy with a huge catch radius. He also said all the right things. He stayed out of trouble. He took criticism as motivation and did what they asked. He also put up 550 yards at over 17 yards a catch while playing less then 50% of the offensive snaps for the year.

He made mistakes but he also showed he had big play ability and if develops into a better overall receiver he will be a nightmare for defenses. We don't have the luxury of being behind the scenes so we don't know everything but to call him a bust this early on is silly.

As a very raw rookie, away from football for a year and having difficulties learning the offense he was still more productive then Douglas, McBride, Hunter and Wright.

He still very young and even in a limited role this year he has value to this team. I would have all for cutting his snaps and trying to put him in situations he could be successful in and I think he could have helped this team this year while providing depth to a position that is severely lacking depth. He wasn't a pro ready guy Everyone knew he was a project that would take time. I think even if he didn't play a lot this year he still would have been more valueable to this team learning the offense and developing as a player and in another year or maybe 2 there is no telling the kind of WR he could become but I really don't think a new team and offense is going to be good for him this early on in his career.

DGB is no where near a bust for the titans. he led WR in multiple categories as a rookie. he never got a second year because he was traded. this thread is dumb.

This is even worse than if I made a "haha I told you mett sucked from the beginning" thread

This is the excuse I expect to hear from posters who are loving this trade right now and ignoring the fact he's been given all of one year to mature as a Titan.

Most people thought he already got that kick in the ass when his college team cut him.

We'll see what happens but as I have said a couple of times today, Philly doesn't appear to be a good situation for a guy like him.

It's not a question of loving the trade. This trade is basically two teams swapping players who would either be cut or on the bubble. Trash for trash.

What I do love is Robinson seeing what type of players he wants and moving on from players he doesn't feel have a place on the roster. He has a plan and he's executing it.

Such a great change from Webster
