By definition you can only get what you can get...

I don't understand why they have to be so desperate to give the pick away. If they are not offering fare trade value, make the pick and move on. You can trade other picks also. You can trade #33. I would not make a deal with the rams if it did not involve thier #1 next year. #15, #43, #45 and 2017 1st is the least I would take. That is a damn good deal for them. If the guy turns out to be a franchise QB, it is a fucking steal for them. #1 to #15 is just too far.

Yep, it's worth what we can get for it.

There is all sorts of precedent set in draft trade values but if no one will pay that much then you either take less or you don't trade.

I remember when we had the #6 pick in the draft and took Pacman. Floyd Reese flat out said it was the first time in his career that not a single team called offering to trade up. Demand has to exist to get decent trade value.

If you can't get decent value you don't trade. #15, #43, and #45 is not decent value. That trade would mean we are desperate. I hope J Rob is patient. If the value is not there, make the pick on a blue chip player and move on. There will be other picks and other years where the value matches. I don't think a Bill Belicheck or any other GM worth thier salt would make that trade with the rams.

If all I can get for the house $100k, that's all it's really worth.  When the housing market crashed in '09, people found that out the hard way.  The smart ones (that could) sat on their houses until the market came back.  A similar thing happened in the late '70s.  Interest rates were outrageous, so very few were borrowing.  If you needed to sell, you took what you could get, regardless of the appraised/assessed value.

When you're on the clock in the draft, sitting on the pick hoping for more later on doesn't work.

Ask for the moon, but when you're out of time you take what you can get.  Walking away nets you nothing.

By your own admission, the smart ones sit on the house when the market collapses. If the QBs in this draft aren't worth what it costs for a team to move from 15 to 1, then the Rams won't do it. If they are willing to do it, then they think the QB there is a value. So you ask for the value of moving up that far. If they refuse, then you don't sell. You take the pick, and you get the top player on your board. If that's Ramsey, then you just got what you consider to be the best DB to come along in a LONG time. DBs just aren't picked that high, so if we take one it's because we think he's amazing. If it's Tunsil, you just got a top notch LT, which is incredibly valuable in this league. And you just got him on a rookie-capped deal for the next 4 years.

Make the pick.

That's just it, I don't see Ramsey as all that.  If I'm sitting on the pick I take Tunsil.

But if I believe I need to fill more holes in other areas, and that a LT isn't necessary, I take the trade and pick my RT from among Stanley, Conklin, Decker etc. and grab my safety in the 2nd, and still have 2 more picks.

Or, if Ramsey is gone I take a difference maker like Ragland or H. Henry in the first and trade one of the 2nds away to ATL for Schraeder, and get a proven RT.

And I still have 2 2nds left to grab a safety and a CB.

This is how the Pats have managed to stay on top despite having probably the least 1st round picks in the last decade. Better believe Robinson knows the value of trading down and will do everything they can to do so.

Not quite. The Patriots have managed to stay on top because of Tom Brady. That's their big secret. They've missed on many draft picks, but Brady keeps them in the hunt every year.

This is true. Sometimes I thought the Patriots got too cute & traded down too much & for awhile their roster was lacking impact players. They've had some very good drafts recently though, they have some serious impact defensive players.

I don't think that's necessarily true. The 49ers and Rams are both pretty desperate for a QB. It's just a question of how much they like Wentz.

So Kelly offers a similar trade he offered us last year for MM...#7, second rd pick, 2017 1st rd pick and player from offense and defense...which players from offense and defense would you want?

I'm not sure on offense...on defense, it would be Bowman or Reid.

Except Kelly's not the GM there. Baalke is. His MO is in his tenure is trade down, not up. Maybe this year is different because of QB, but I don't see him trading the farm like Kelly wanted to for Marcus
