We also need veteran lineman ... so to say we're looking to sign that position is self explanatory. Not really, I thought we'd be looking at FS's over corners. I thought maybe we'd look at the S instead and sign another cheap vet Brice McCain type. WF had a report saying teams might have to trade ahead of us to get a S in the 2nd. Perhaps we sign a big FA CB and draft a S in round 2. It's very vague, he named the top FA corner. And then under that named the teams that need a corner. He didn't say in that report that the Titans were specifically targeting Jenkins: "Some of the other teams looking for corners: the Niners, the Raiders, the Jaguars and the Titans." Of course we're looking at corners, but are we specifically looking at Jenkins? In the video he also says Marvin Jones is going to be pursued by the Browns, the Giants and ANYBODY looking for a receiver. That essentially includes us as well then ... I don't fault him for writing it, I fault us for running it as an indication of us pursuing Jenkins.

He doesn't say we're targeting Jenkins, but he says we're looking for corners in FA. Technically, we've signed a CB. But I'm assuming he means more than Brice McCain. mctitan53
I wonder what the likelihood of trading McCourty is?

I suggested this a few months ago, wouldn't put it past him. Personally I would move McCourty for a 3rd/4th pick, injuries have plagued him and I'm sure he would be interested in going somewhere new. I suggested the Pats, but not sure if they could afford his salary, though he could restructure.

That's a bit of a red flag for me when talking about a big contract to a FA. Sean Smith makes sense. He is going to be in his age 29 season though. Which means if you sign him to a 5 yr deal for example, 4 of those years are going to be ages 30-33 which for a CB is old. There's a few older CB like Newman who are still productive, but that's probably the exception not the norm. And Smith is a big guy. Hayward is young (26) and has the local ties. Smith will cost more money though. I'm just not sure that they'll be willing to pay it. 1 hour ago, Face said: Not really, I thought we'd be looking at FS's over corners. Market's pretty weak for FS though. Gipson had a down year. Iloka and McCloud might get overpaid and Weddle won't consider us. We'll probably get better value (production) from a CB than a S. Oh and there a strong draft class for FS as well.
Bobo
I think moving McCourty to FS is a viable option, which leaves a hole at CB which we could be looking to fill.
