I'm hoping, and believe that Kasich might be the biggest candidate to benefit. He's not an outsider, but the establishment could get behind him and he's not "Bush". Cruz and Trump might be capped in terms of support. (high floor, low ceiling). They benefit from the large field. Carson is done. Rubio looked again like an empty suit. Kasich has substance, should see a bump from a good showing in New Hampshire and easily had the best, most convincing moments in the last debate.

I haven't made up my mind on who to vote for in the general election, but I'd like to see a real debate. Kasich and Clinton would provide that. No way I would consider voting for any other Republican candidates.

I haven't made up my mind on who to vote for in the general election, but I'd like to see a real debate. Kasich and Clinton would provide that. No way I would consider voting for any other Republican candidates. 

I believe Kasich's funds have just about dried up, I read he only has about a million left. If true, he needs a great showing in NH tonight.

If you win, the money will come. I'm curious to see what happens with Bush. If he finishes poorly it's hard to imagine he can keep going. He has the money, but you can't keep going if you're not going to win. Florida is over a month away and he's polling behind Trump, Rubio and Cruz. Where does the momentum come? I could see establishment money going to Kasich if he wins in NH. Up to the GOP if they want to pull the plug on Jeb.

When the Republican party finally achieves the political purity they so greatly desire, they can revel in their accomplishment of being a fringe third party. Political parties are coalitions of different groups and people with ranges of political views. Some Republicans think their problem is that they're not conservative enough. They're wrong.

Sounds more like stupid than "telling it like it is", which explains the support they have (including yours).

And the problem with the Dem base is they're blind followers.  If the candidate is on the Dem side of the ticket, that's how they'll vote, regardless of the quality of the candidate, or how qualified they are for the job. 

Or just because, like I read so often here, they believe no GOP candidate could possibly be qualified, so by default, the Dem candidate must be better. 

I live in one of the bluest states in the union, and you wouldn't believe the shit I hear people spew.   From both sides.

Which is why I re-registered as a non-affiliated independent years ago.

The other side isn't dumb, and certainly isn't always wrong:

But if you want proof of my assertion around here, all you have to do is read a few of the threads in this very forum.

If you want more from your party's (or any party's) candidates, tell them if the quality doesn't come up, you won't vote AT ALL.

Too many people are afraid of what the other party might do, or bring to the table/discussion once they're in office.   The process has spawned fear in the voters, much of it unfounded.  And we see it more and more every cycle.

Hell, if the country can survive the political choices of the '70s, it can survive anything.

Turn off the echo chamber and do some research.

Outside of out of one or two candidates, this has to be one of the least qualified Republican field of candidates in a while. You have a career businessman, a retired neurosurgeon and two freshman senators who have lead the polls. Republicans aren't dumb, but they've been of leave of their senses for several years now.

With all due respect, people are afraid of what Republicans say they are going to do. Unless you are arguing that they are lying about their political goals, it isn't just a fear of what they might do.

We also look back at the Bush years to see what they did do in office...

That's easier said than done.  I do my research, some may as well and many may not.  I'm still undecided but that decision will be much clearer to me depending on the nominees.  Say if Trump or Cruz is the nominee.  I could never vote for them.  Then I'm stuck with either a third party candidate or not voting, which isn't happening.   I know that the old axiom of "you're individual vote doesn't count", especially with the electorial college, but I take voting pretty seriously.  The real voting shame is how little turn out especially for local elections.

Yeah, and the other side has a first lady that didn't even do that well, and a socialist that appeals to ideologues primarily.  The most balanced guy in the race dropped out due to lack of appeal.  Furthermore, this is the party that spent the last two cycles bitching about the "old white guys" the 'pubs put up.  That's a hoot.

And do you really want to discuss "Freshmen Senators?"  LOL

Spare me the diatribe(s).  When it comes to politics lately, it's either populist or fear driven, with plenty of mockery and ridicule thrown in.  Civil discourse has been lost in the reliance on The Comedy Channel and The Onion - Like efforts to drive the narrative.
