Did you see when he accepted the 5 yard penalty on 2nd down? It would have been 3rd and down and 4, instead it was 2nd and 9.. Flacco promptly threw an 8 yard pass to make it 3rd and 1 ad the Steelers played off-coverage. Scobee barely missed two 45 yard FGs which is why they went for it the second time. You have to kick it there. I completely disagree about the FG the second time. It was 4th and 1. The FG would have been from 50 yards. And if they make it the game isn't over. The Steelers had a chance to win it with a TD. You should be able to pick up a 4th and 1. If Vick missed the throw then maybe it was the right call and not executed well. One thing that I didn't get is why the hell the Steelers didn't go for 2 to go up 21-7. We see this all the time, teams settling for the XP to go up 13. And it ends up biting them on the ass. And haven't the Steelers made a point about trying for two more than average? Funny how things change. Aside from the cheater - what coach do people like these days? I'm a big Harbaugh fan. I know this guy isn't that popular but I like Jason Garrett. Ton Coughlin's probably too old but I always liked him. Bruce Arians is a terrific coach. I actually think Mike ZImmer is a good coach. I still believe in Whisenhunt. Sure sometimes it's obvious, like when a holding call makes it 1st and 20 instead of 2nd and 4. But 5 yards is not enough of a difference to give a team an extra down. Sometimes during a Titans game they'll run for like 1 yard and then it gets called back due to holding and I'm happy about it. Because it's an extra play. In that case kick the FG. Absolute no-brainer. And he should be fired on the spot for not kicking it. If you don't trust your kicker to kick a 50 yard FG then he should have been released a long time ago. I assumed based on the fact that they went for it there that they were doing it because a FG didn't necessarily end the game. the only way you don't kick it there if if you have a young kicker who's confidence is shot. Face Posted October 2, 2015 Report Share Posted October 2, 2015 I agree with Simms. Scobee is a 12 year vet with a good percentage and a history of being clutch. Both missed fgs had plenty of distance and were barely wide left. You let him attempt a 50 harder. But at the same time there are 32 kickers good enough to make a 50 yard field goal. If they're not comfortable in Scobee then they should have replaced him already.
