If you connect to one of their other servers around the world, you'll get an IP address in that country. The fact is, you don't use GamePass and you don't use his VPN service, yet you told him it won't work. I just tried to set the record straight. Feel free to continue to offer incorrect info. This isn't worth my time. I quoted the site where it explicitly states you get a U.S. based IP which clearly isn't the case if they are assigning IPs' from other countries. you are an end user who googled "how do I surf the internet anonymously" and came up with private VPN. You know next to nothing how it really works. I on the other end work in the Industry. Get back to me after you've spent years obtaining Cisco certs on network interconnectivity and then maybe we can have a real conversation about this subject. @Mythos, If PIA assigns you an IP from a non U.S block it will work, which I stated earlier but I guess some people can't read, but make no mistake it can be shutdown if the NFL deems it's worth the effort. You also need to be very careful with the fine print on services like PIA. They may claim to provide anonymity but the fact is they have to keep logs of some kind even if it's just a timestamp of when you connected and when you disconnected from their VPN concentrators and those logs can be subpoenaed. Add encryption and intercontinental routing to the mix and you'll get poor latency and like poor throughput. It doesn't add up, especially when the NFL gets around to blocking the feed. I can actually choose an IP address from California to Singapore or at least that's what it looks like to me. I'm not all that tech savvy so I'm not sure if that's the case. When I connect to Russia, and then go to whatismyip.com it says that I am connecting from Moscow City. Maybe it's just a clever trick but it seems legit to me. Their site is misleading as it specifcailly states U.S Ips are handed out which is clearly false. They provide you a list of VPN sites you can connect to which in turn are backed by Public or Private IP pools so if you connect to the Moscow location you obtain a public IP that falls under Russia's allotment which would let you bypass the Gamepass restrictions in the U.S. The point is that the NFL and it's Telco providers could trace streams to PIA's VPN gateway in Russia and either reach out to PIA directly asking for user data or request legal action. If they felt like they had enough evidence that PIA was providing users with a way to circumvent their Streaming polices they could effectively block PIA and not allow their services to traverse the PIA network. PIAs claim that they can provide legal and secure service to allow users to bypass restrictions is flat out false and is predatory. The fine print says it all. So they can do what they claim but because it's not legal, they can't exactly verify that you can use their VPN to do this long term and can't truly protect your privacy. Makes sense. Alcibiades Posted August 7, 2015 Author Report Share Posted August 7, 2015 Ok, so I called NFL.com, and apparently the reason I didn't get the promotional deal was because I was using the team pass approach last year (I only cared about watching Titans games). As a result, I didn't get the autorenewal and thus can't get the 69.99 subscription. So, now I have to decide what to do. Gamepass will still let me see all the preseason games and regular, but I guess it works basically like nfl rewind did. I won't get them live (well, I might for preseason, but not regular season). OTOH, sunday ticket streaming (which I could get because trees block me from having satellite) is pretty damn expensive, way more than gamepass. What to do.....
