On the near safety call there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call either. I thought for it to be a S the all had to completely be behind he goaline and it looked like the point of the ball was barely ahead of it when he defender made contact. As for Kaep's TD he bobbled the snap and he play was super close but with all he bodies there is no way to tell. And yes, it couldn't have happened to a better team. The 49ers didn't even earn their way down to the endzone. While it was definitely a long pass interference I am getting a little sick of those calls deciding games. The way interference is being called the QB just needs to heave the ball and make sure it is in play. QB could throw the ball 3 times a little behind the WR and one of those will result in a PI. They have to do something about long PI calls, there just being called way too frequently. If the league wants the refs to enforce contact outside of 5 yards more fine, but they have to be more discerning with these 50 yard PI calls, there just devastating. I didn't see the game so when I read his stuff I figured Fish really did catch a break....until I find out it was the complete opposite & the refs actually tried to hose Fish. All kidding aside, the Gore fumble was a Rams TD and the worst call of the game. The facts are the Rams defensive front dominated the SF OL, that's why they won the game, not because of the refs. I wonder if GW relaxed with all the blitzing? I forget who but a very good DC said about 10 years ago that if you have good pass rushers you should just rush 4 or at most 5 because a lot of blitzing, besides taking guys out of coverage, can actually clog things up & give the DL less room to work the OL. I disagree that blitzing clogs things up for your pass rushers, especially the edge rushers; what it does do is give the QB more of an opportunity to hit hot routes and short underneath routes when the edge rusher may have gotten to him if those routes were covered for another half second. Donald is the next great DT, the next Warren Sapp. I know this was a great draft but no way he should've dropped as far as he did. You have argued for considerable allowances the 'stache (he's certainly needed them), and that's okay. You like the guy and think he's a good coach and all; I get it.
