ALTitan
I've watched Finland vs Canada and US vs Russia. I've seen only 2 periods of Russia - Finland today (before going to work). Finland was pretty impressive in defense in these games. Finland - Sweden will be an interesting game. Can't watch @ work, but I am surprised by Canada - Latvia 1-1 after the 2nd. I've expected a score/game similar to Sweden - Slovenia.
ALTitan
CTF, are you watching Canada - Latvia game? Is Latvia playing well or Canada playing bad?
Guest
I am in meetings and can;t watch but on the net they are saying Latvia is just in a defensive shell, the goalie is standing on his head, shots are 44-12 for Canada and Latvia just got the puck past the red line for the first time all period! They are not even trying to forecheck. Nervous times…these guys can fluke one in. Google search "hfboards" and then go tot he olympic forum to find the thread I am following. TampaTitan
Come get you some, CTF! As dominant as the U.S. has looked, I'm a bit worried about this next game.
NashvilleNinja
Ovechkin is such a massive choker. Pronounced: Ova-chokin.
freakingeek
Latvia Canada was an incredible game. Canada threw everything including the kitchen sink at them and their goalie Gudlevskis was absolutely phenomenal. I think he fraced 57 shots and gave up 2 goals. Canada set up shop right in front of the goal the entire 3rd period and they were lucky to get the one goal they scored. I don't know if I've ever seen a better effort by a goalie. That said, the stage is set for the Canada USA matchup. It's going to be a war. The Rooskies choked. Too bad so sad...... Not! I recorded the games and stayed away from radio and TV and internet until I could watch them back to back. I even paused the USA/Czech Rep game in the 3rd period when I felt like we had the game in hand and turned the Canada Latvia game on to watch it because the announcers kept talking about it being a tight 1-1 game and I didn't want to know who won before I watched it. Great games. I'm definitely taking off work early Friday to watch USA/Canada at noon.

freakingeek
Team USA's passing has been unbelievable and their ability to penetrate the defense and take the puck right to the net is just poetry in motion. All 5 of their goals against the Czechs were scored within 3 feet of the net. That's hard to defend. The difference in Canada and USA has been the Canadians thought they would waltz in with all that talent and slice and dice the competition. Team USA has played with great intensity and team chemistry from the start and it gets better with each game. I think the matchup Friday will essentially be the Gold Medal game even though they'll still be one game left to play.
Tim
Canada is old and weak. Had no business beating Latvia.
TampaTitan
Wow what a choke job by the U.S. women. I'd be shocked if they win now.
freakingeek
Great gold medal game by both USA and Canada women's teams. Great ebb and flow in that game. Both teams dominated the other at times. Congrats to Canada on a great comeback. They scored twice with 3 minutes to go in the game to tie it up 2-2 and won it in OT. The USA women must be sick. They were so close.

Guest
Canada is old and weak. Had no business beating Latvia. Lol. OK man. Canada is easily the most talented roster in the world…they're second/back up team would be the favourites. If they allowed Canada to send a second team it would likely be Canada vs. Canada in the final. Canada outshot Latvia 57-16 and dominated the entire game. This being said anything can happen in a one game tourney.

Guest
FG: All the Team Canada players are very experienced in international hockey and know anything can happen and they knew they would have tough tests and they did not think this would be easy. With due respect to the talented forwards on Team USA….including the sexy tiger who is probably the most purely skilled player in the world, they have not faced anything close to Weber, Doughty, Keith, Pietrangelo, Boowmeister et al. I agree that Team USA has looked like the most explosive team in the tourney but the best teams are built from the net out. Should be a beauty!
