joke, right?

I don't think it is a joke. It solves most of the problems in the middle east.

I'm not an advocate of the idea, but I can see the logic behind it.

Since when does appeasement work? I also can understand their thinking, but Neville Chamberlain taught a huge lesson on the fallacy of appeasement. It wouldn't solve anything.

Obama got the auto industry back on track, got health care reform passed, reformed student loan aid, Wall street reform, the equal pay for women bill and the credit card reform act to name a few. Oh yea he had Obama hunted down and terminated Osama Ben Laden.

Everyone says the Republican don't have a legitimate candidate. That's not the problem, the problem is the Republican message. Strip workers collective bargaining, strip government entitlements like medicare while giving for tax cuts to the richest people doesn't sit well with most semi intelligent people. You could dig up Abe Lincoln or JFK and they wouldn't get elected with that agenda.

Obviously, it is difficult to argue the links that I posted, so since you cede those points, on to the gun issue. I am sure you are not one to focus on gun rights since they are not a major issue to you, but they are to me, and although you are correct in the amount of bills he has signed, you are wrong that he is not attempting to make guns somewhat of an issue. Guns are a real difficult issue for dems because most Americans support gun rights, the Supreme Court (on this issue) appears to back the Constitutionality of gun rights (as evidenced by overturning the Chicago ban), and most current statistics show that crime is going down as gun ownership is on the rise. However, I think Obama has realized that if he wants re-elected, the only thing he has to do is play to HIS audience...i.e. the left-wing. Republicans are too dumb to nominate anyone that actually has a plan for smaller government, so defeating a Pawlenty, Huckebee, or Romney will be childs play...especially when a legitimate candidate runs as a third party candidate. Thus, if Obama pushes the gun issue just a little by trying to reauthorize the 'assault' weapons ban or limit mag capacity, it will score big points with his audience, and help them look past what they perceive to be failures in his first term (Afghanistan, Iraq, drugs, taxes, etc.).

A few links to prove my point:

It will have to be a careful balance, because if he pushes it too far, he will lose the voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida, and that is yet again where the election will be won or lost.

Honestly, the only hope the Republicans have of defeating Obama in '12 is to nominate a Libertarian like Paul, and that won't happen with the party being run by hypocrite conservatives that see government as a threat unless they are using it to force 'Christian' morality on the people. Obama would kill the Republican (and get my vote) if he would stop his 'under the radar' anti-gun agenda, focus on legalizing drugs and prostitution, and stop portraying tax money like it is the government's it begin with.

I sure wish the old politcal board was still up so we could go back and read a few things. All of the sudden you're worried about spending....

While you were praising the wars I was saying they would cost too much... I bitched about the medicare prescription bill non funded spending and I posted about how much the Bush Tax cuts that were also unfunded.... 80% of the current debt comes from Republican spending.

Republicans spend more.... don't be suckered into thinking otherwise. And Ron Paul nor any other Libertarian is getting nominated

Dangit Soxcat, can you just post from a website that I don't reject out of hand just for the name? Sometimes I would love to get a better understanding of your views, but I will not even consider something from a source that supports that moron. It may be a failing on my part, but I can not stand that woman. Her whole persona is such a farce (imo).

I know the answer for liberals is to just spend, spend and spend but as long as they can raise taxes they are justified and responsible.

No, that's the Republicans that spend spend spend... And the tax rate under Obama is the lowest in 50 years.

I say we give all the land to the Palestinians and give the holy ground(temple) to the Muslims

I say we give your house to the poor and your front door to the Jehovah's witnesses. Wow, it is fun giving other people's stuff away.

BTW, the holy ground (temple) is controlled by the Muslims... see Dome of the Rock.

They should expire. It is patently unfair to allow people to become accustomed to all of these government services without making them pay for them. Borrowing against the future can't go on forever. We either must reduce spending on Medicare, Medicaid, Military and Social Security OR raise taxes. The status quo cannot continue.

You can make all of the excuses you want, but spending has doubled since Obama took office and he has not paid for any of it. It was wrong when W did it, and it is still wrong.
