I was thinking we could work together and identify some baseline expectations for different levels of qb for a select number of metrics that you and i agree on.

Set maybe baselines for bad qb, average, good, and elite.

Then compare all the qbs that came out when Locker did each week with quarerly summaries.

Thought it could be interesting. It wont separate performance from context but could cool. It would be objective and based upon pre decided metrics- no ability to pick and choose stats later.

 

Let's take a stab at it then. The problem is that there isn't any real way to measure clutch play. Also, it will be nearly impossible to measure Ponder, Gabbert, Newton, etc... unless someone commits to watching those teams play. Otherwise we are back to using established stats as a barometer. That being said I would go with the following:

 

Passer Rating

PPG (offense only)

YPA

3rd down conversions

Turnovers including sacks (willing to entertain qualifying sacks, fumbles, and INTs as QB's fault or another player but methodology has to be agreed to first)

4th Qtr passser rating (Possibly used to qualify Clutch but once again, current score would dictate whether that stat is hollow or not)

 

EDIT: I would consider using some of the stats from Footballoutsiders used to track QB play. PFF is out though as I believe their stats are complete garbage.

I did in our pickem contest.  I think the Brown's D is pretty good.

We'll have to work it out during the week. We can start by naming the attributes and then linking the metrics.

We could pick a couple less traditional if we want- as long as they are a minority.

Ill create an excel sheet with lines marking the base performance levels. We can then watch weekly performances and quarterly summaries. I can email or pm you the excel sheets each week and we can divide out who does what.

It will not be subjective at all but yes there will always be arguments of context. That's unavoidable with the sport.
