volntitan
Seems like Franklin is trying to distance himself from this. These were his recruits. I know he can't comment much about it, but to wait 3 weeks to put out a statement and then not say anything at the meetings....
volntitan
The 4 players have been indicted. Basically gang raped an unconscious girl on campus. Investigation on going and possibly more charges. More Vandy players called as witnesses. Feel horrible for the victim. This is not good for Vandy. pamo9
One of the "witnesses" is the QB Carta-Samuels. What decent young man witnesses such a heinous act and says nothing??
Opus74
One of the "witnesses" is the QB Carta-Samuels. What decent young man witnesses such a heinous act and says nothing?? You do realize the difference between the verb and the noun, right? Just because you may be called as a "witness" does not mean you actually witnessed the alleged act. Let's not "get a rope" quite yet, OK?
AFCman
From the VERY little I've heard/read about this....it's NOT good. BUT....I will wait a little longer until I hear/read some more facts. This is not something that you would normally associate with Vandy....but it's becoming more prevalent everywhere. Sex and drinking/drugs are what ranks colleges in those "party schools" list.

Opus74
Thug u That has to be sarcasm from someone with "vol" in their screen name.
volntitan
That has to be sarcasm from someone with "vol" in their screen name. Vols have absolutely had some law troubles in the past for sure...no question. That said I don't believe they've ever had 4 players gang rape an unconscious girl on campus and film it. It was said in jest mostly because that is what a lot Vandy "fans" have said about vols in the past. But considering that Vandy made the top 5 of the most dangerous colleges in america (Business Insider), maybe it fits better than you think.
Opus74
Really? REALLY? I'm a fan of both schools (it's not impossible) but my daughter went to UT. There's no doubt that the inmates ran the institution in Knoxville for years. If anything like that had happened on Cumberland Ave., the police (campus and city) would have buried it . Naming Vandy one of the most dangerous in the nation based on one incident (no matter how bad) is ridiculous.
volntitan
I didn't name Vandy one of the most dangerous campus's, Business Insider did. And not based off one incident. Not saying it is true, but that is their findings, not mine. As far as if this happened on UT's campus, it would have 100% absolutely been brought to light. Vandy didn't do anything special by kicking the players off the team. Any school would have done the same thing. I never said that UT didn't have criminals up there before, but for years many Vandy fans have been talking about how they would never take "thugs"...well obviously they do because what those criminals did at Vandy was worse than anything done at most any SEC school. Now not all Vandy fans have acted that way, but alot for sure. UT is by NO means clean from malcontents...hell, most of Kiffin's recruits either were kick off out of school or dropped out. Again, the Thug U was tongue and cheek...But hey, tit for tat vandy. Hopefully the young lady and her family can somehow make it thru this horrific violation that was done to her. As far as being fan of both, jmo opinion, doesn't really make you a true fan on either.
Opus74
As far as being fan of both, jmo opinion, doesn't really make you a true fan on either. So to be a "true fan" of one you have to hate the other? Like you said. it's your opinion but, in MY opinion, that's one of the things wrong with college sports. I'll define my fandom as I see fit, thanks very much.
volntitan
I never said you have to hate any team, but personally could never pull for Tennesse's instate rival unless it benefitted the Vols. As a Titan fan, could you also say your a fan of the Jags? In my opinion, you have to pick a side.
Opus74
No, I don't. It's not war - it's only college sports. I have ties through friends and relatives to both schools. I want both to be successful. The only time it's a problem is when they play each other. I have no ties to any other NFL teams so my loyalty there is undivided. I used to be the "bleed orange" (or black and gold) type of fan but, as I gotten older, I've become less passionate about it. I still get excited by the games but a loss doesn't put me in a funk for days nor does a win put me on top of the world. maybe it's that "low T" thing. volntitan
I would say losses don't have me as much in a funk anymore as they did say, 25 years ago when I was in my 20's. Maybe it is the last number of barren years by the Vols that prepared me for that. But could never call myself a "fan" of another college team. Same with NFL and Titans. Just me. WG53
I like both Vandy and UT. This whole you cannot like Vandy if you are a UT fan is stupid redneck logic.
