Honestly, it's like we had two drafts. We had the first two rounds and picked 3 starters, IMO. I don't know if Faulk will start his first game, but by midseason, he'll at least be so much in the rotation that he's effectively a starter. Tate and Hill seem like starters from the jump. BUT, we traded into that position to do all that. Then we had a second draft, full of late round dart throws with upside/potential. Some of these are STs players that might develop. Some are OL depth that might work their way into the lineup in a year or two. But none of them are sure fire players in this league. NONE of the guys we drafted after Hill would be surprise cuts to me when we assign the active roster after TC. At the same time, I don't have a problem with this. This draft had some depth at a few positions, mostly along the line. And so we got some late round people that MIGHT work out. If they don't, I think we still got three quality starters, which is about all you can hope for in a draft where we didn't have multiple first/second round picks. I'm happy with it.

I'm not sure anyone would have disagreed with that list; so I'm not sure why you worried you were a lunatic. That was pretty much the consensus for our picking spot. It was going to be one of those five guys.

Agreed. Tate is great at separation. Top end speed is not the same thing as lack of separation. He lines DBs up and makes them look foolish. You can keep thinking he doesn't. His play will show it.

Tate's a great blocker. Zero holds in 600 blocks. He's very willing, and he's fast to the point of attack. He's got great hands. Great adjustment. He runs great routes. There are two real concerns. Can he learn to beat press (he didn't show it in college) and will his top end speed be enough in the NFL. That's it. You guys are overthinking this.

Yes, but when you watched the games last year, our guys were NOT getting open. They mostly had bad separation. Tate doesn't. He gets open. Apparently it's because other teams don't cover him, but that's one way to get open. We just have to hope that happens in the NFL too. It should. Apparently, no one is ever scared of him . He's stealthy!

As a Vandy fan, it almost hurts, but he did it to himself. First, fights the NCAA to get another year of playing time (for him AND others). Sticks it to the system. System doesn't like that. But OK.... Then, gets super upset he didn't get the Heisman. Says fuck the voters. Who are those voters? You know, guys who are important. But OK.... Apparently tells teams that he will NOT be a backup. If they draft him, he plans to start. Decides not to get an agent because "I don't want anyone taking ANY of my money." Yeah, that's called paying someone for a service dude. You see, the agent gets you a deal, and thus gets a little cut of the deal. That's doing business. But hey, you got this.... Look, there's cocky and then there's stupid. I'll let you decide which one we are dealing with here. BTW, the above doesn't even consider that he's only 5'9 or whatever. It's PURELY attitude.

That's the problem. Even if he has a cool name to say, you never want to hear the center's name. "Holding call on ...COOOOOoooooooogan". Yeah, that's not great.

I agree about the press coverage. I think teams didn't risk it with him, because they were scared to get beat. BUT he's not good at press coverage at this point. That's coachable. And they could add some strength to his frame without losing speed. He's faster than his 40. I disagree on the route running, though. For his age, he's an excellent route runner. The best in this class.

Fun idea! Here's mine: Carnell Tate (95%..where works out means is a productive important player to our team, and barring injury, which is how I'm doing all of these.) Keldric Faulk (75%...should be a decent run stopper, but unlikely to be elite pass rusher) Anthony Hill Jr (85% as a solid, Bobby Wagner/Keith Bulluck type LBer) Fernando Carmona (4%...hate it) Nicholas Singleton (30%...should help on STs. Not a huge upside, but I think he's a good value where we got him) Jackie Marshall (20%...rotational guy. Might not make this year's team) Pat Coogan (50% to be a starter one day) Jaren Kanak (5% as a TE....but as a ST guy could stick around like Donny Nickey. )

Yeah, I think center is probably the best position on the team (certainly on the offense) where technique can make up for lack of pure athleticism. It's often where the least athletic/strong but best technician/smart guy goes. I think that's who this is, and that's a hugely valuable thing to have.

No. I think your intellectual martyr schtick is dumb, and you can't even tell the difference between mocking and teasing. I'm not playing. You take yourself too seriously, even as you pretend that you don't. Instead, I'll join you in getting back to this particular topic. I don't think we took this kid because of anything his coach said. I think it's a data point, and hopefully they ignored it due to Wilson. I don't like this pick because I just don't like the guy's demeanor and attitude. But he's an interior OL, and we definitely needed that. I'm just glad we also drafted a center. We need so much help along the OL, and there were no quality tackles at our picks (or at least not above the people we DID pick at each selection).

In terms of value and contribution to the team, yeah, it may well be. I love Tate, but this was a steal.

I didn't call either Vrabel OR Russini a whore. I actually think they had a relationship...like really liked each other and weren't just using each other.

Older player at a position of low value (in draft terms). Does not have great measurables and gets by on technique. Heady player, who will get to play because of it, but not dominant NFL traits.

Got it....unless someone is dancing with someone else's wife, in which case, we can fool you a thousand times. I kid...I kid.

The only two picks I feel will definitely be starters here for the next 5 years are Tate and Hill. I like Faulk for his upside and as a rotational run stopper (at the very least). I really like our new RB, but I don't think he'll ever be the main guy. Coogan could be a starting center, maybe even this year. The others we drafted are roleplayers, IMO. Potential upside, depending on coaching. But I LOVE the Tate and Hill picks.

He's very athletic. I wonder why he switched positions, actually. Pretty impressive season, though, considering that. He's likely ST for us, at least for now.

I honestly think the CBs left are all the same, and getting them in UDFA is fine.
