  1. I just don't think the GM/HC have the patience for that and I can't totally blame them when you can go from hired to fired in an instant. Mayfield is far from ideal, but he did lead them to the playoffs. If they didn't pay Mayfield, what else are they supposed to do? You might not be around long enough to have the opportunity to get a true franchise guy. It's easy for fans to say wait to try to get a true franchise guy, but these GM and HC don't have much time to build a winner. Frank Reich didn't even make it a full season.
  2. It's really stunning how far Wilson has fallen in two seasons. From looking like a possible HOF to barely hanging on in the league as a starter at this point.
  3. I think there's a good chance we're going to have buyers remorse in a couple years if we way overpay for Ridley or Brown which some team may do.
  4. agreed sometimes I seriously wonder if posters who make these suggestions actually pay attention to the players they're suggesting. If we go with Williams and Becton at RT, Levis will end up in a hospital bed and we'll be looking at QB in 2025. Becton is a turd. NYJ who are desperate as we are for OL couldn't wait to get rid of him.
  5. He's not good. Might as well keep Autry. He's a lot better. Kinlaw was in SF with plenty of time to prove himself and did nothing.
  6. Which is what Fisher would do. Pass. Plus this guy had 5 seasons in SF and didn't do anything notable.
  7. Don't think he'll have much of one. Not with the type of injuries he's had the past few years.
  8. I'm bewildered why Payton took the Broncos job in the first place. He inherited an aging rapidly declining QB who doesn't fit his scheme and joined a team that gave up 2 1sts and 2 2nds to get him, so you're handicapped already on draft picks in your 1st year It's also not the same ownership. Bowlen passed away. If Payton waited one more year, maybe he could've got the Chargers job and inherited Herbert. Or the Commandeers job where he could hand pick his QB. Instead he's in a situation with no current QB with little chance in the imminent future of unseating Mahomes. He had it fairly easy in the NFC South for awhile.
  9. This. He can be a good TE, but if you're taking him top 10, you're really defying any reasonable conventions and expecting him to be an anomaly. Guys like Gronk and Kelce are physical beasts. Bowers is undersized for the position. Can he play inline? Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates were smaller than Gronk and Kelce but still way bigger and more physical than Bowers.
  10. I've said I think they should try to take QB. Daboll's seat is hot. Do you really want to count on Daniel Jones if your job was on the line?
  11. How many FA still stay with the same team 5+ years after they sign? Not very many. Majority of guys get cut before their contract ends, so even if you get 2-3 years of good play from Smith, that's ok in my book. I agree the injury history is more concerning. Still, when he's right, he's a franchise LT and there are very few of them. I'd make a play for him.
  12. He's easily the best LT on the market by a wide margin. The age isn't ideal, but 27-28 year old franchise LT don't hit the open market. If we take Odunze or Nabers at 7, a 2nd round rookie OT isn't going to be able to step in at LT right away. Trent Williams is a couple years older than Smith and still playing at a pretty high level. It's not a 10 year solution, but if Smith can give you 2-3 years of stellar LT play I'll take it. You can still draft Alt and eventually have him take over if he's still on the board which I'm starting to doubt.
  13. They're up there in competition with the Bears no doubt. Bears drafted Cade McNown, Rex Grossman, Mitch Trubisky (over Mahomes) among countless other disasters.
  14. No one's been worse at picking and developing QB. Seriously, look at the history. Even the Titans with their many misses have had a couple wins.
  15. I do believe he's going to have a hot market. There are several teams that need QB. Even with four 1st round QB and Fields, someone's going to get left out in the cold. Cousins isn't a great QB, but at worst, you've seen enough of him to know he's a competent starting QB who is capable of playing pretty well with enough help around him.
  16. Agreed. If you can't even be adequate with Mahomes throwing you the ball....
  17. I see signing him being akin to a Jake Scott type contract. A mid tier signing is fine. We can't expect to plug every hole with draft picks.
  18. I don't think Ridley's amazing but he's at worst shown to be a quality starting WR which is what we need. We'll have to wade through the character stuff, but we have some inside intel on that.
  19. Not sure if it's fascination so much as he's one of the best of the worst. It's just not a very good FA WR group sans Mike Evans. But we need someone. I don't think we can just count on Odunze or Nabers. We need another WR. Ridley, warts and all, still just put up a 76 rec 1,016 yards 8 TD season. That's not mind blowing, but for a Titans WR that'd be pretty damn good. I'm not that concerned about his age. You're not signing him for 5-6 seasons. He can still be productive for 3-4 seasons.
  20. Both Davis and Chark can make plays downfield, but they're both pretty boom or bust. Davis is McCareins 2.0 to me. Ridley definitely is a better option as long as they feel ok about the character stuff.
