the titans dont draft these kind of players anymore. we draft model citizens and will continue to do so until we have a very strong locker room with great leadership that can deal with one or two idiots... or until we get a new FO/coaching staff.

Most of the people I've spoken with regarding his stay at TTU have said he was still a living, breathing shit stain.  No thank you.

I know a few of the players there and you are wrong about that. He is never going to be confused as Johnny College or Mr Congenial, but he was far from being a problem at tech last year.

I wonder if the Titans talked to him at the combine; he indicated that he had to go through some tough interviews and that he tried to take everything head on. He'd be much less of a risk at our 3rd or 3rd compensatory pick than Patterson or Austin with no. 10 with  a similar potential. Having said that, I think it's more likely they go with Patton if he's available at the right pick.

He says in the linked video:  "Leaving TN was a wake up call.  I had to go to TN Tech and I was humbled.  Being there with guys that would've killed to go to UT, that humbled me."

They're just words, but they're absolutely perfect words for a guy in his situation.

And for what it's worth - I'm extremely skeptical of guys with the amount of red-flags he has.  I tend to bring up those questions around draft time, like with Mallett and recently Bray, wondering the tradeoff on talent vs risk.  95 times out of 100, I'd tend to opt for the safer route.

In this situation though, I do think he's worth the risk.  He's amazingly talented, and could be an absolute steal if he's truly put his past behind him.

I live in Cookeville, TTU alumni and actively involved with TTU Football, and I find this to be nonsense. He might have been treated a little different b/c of who he was and what he had already accomplished by coming to a small school as TTU, but he was never a problem for the coaches and was a good teammate.

Rugby, as I stated, I have 4 people on that team that I know personally as well as the head coach. As you stated, he was a very good and humble team mate. He attnded class enough to keep the coaches off of hs back during football season. He was one and done at Tech from day one and the coaches knew it too.
