AFCman
Yeah, I do. And I am SEC! all the way. To the core. But ND is a damn good team. They can beat 'bama. (I'm sure NBC wants ND to win....lol ) I was SOOOOOO happy that A&M won because they are in the SEC and all the radio callers out here in Texas HATE the SEC and were predicting Oak would crush them. LOL. GO SEC!
WG53
The idea of rooting for the SEC to win just because your team is in the SEC is stupid. Especially if you are a UT fan rooting for Alabama or any other teams' fan rooting for their rival.
OILERMAN
I don't.... ND beat a bad(compared to their ranking) OK team and USC with a freshman QB, they barely beat some lesser teams as well.

People have different opinions on what being a "fan" means. And, for me, college is different than pro sports.
WhiskeyAlphaBravo
Never really agreed with the notion that if your a fan of an SEC team, you should root for SEC schools in the postseason. Why would I want the rival(s) of my school to get better? Especially now that my team has sucked for the better part of the last 5-6 years...but even when UT was a good team, I didn't agree with it. That said...I think Bama wins tonight, but it will be a good game.

Sports and "fandom" are personal things that appeal to us in a very subjective manner. Who and how we choose to support are purely done on emotion. Try not to be so damn judgmental of other people's choices. PS: Alabama by two td's
tinman
Alabama is gonna embarrass the Irish.. They should juts be happy they made it.

Your rival getting better is not good for your team. A Michigan fan would not root for Ohio State and vice-versa. So why should any fan of a different SEC team root for their rival. That does not help your recruiting or your team.
tinman
I pulled for LSU and Auburn in the NC games in the past.. Why because they beat my team and if my team was beat I want it to be by the best.. NC team would be the best.. I am SEC biased.. I do want the SEC team to beat the non conference team most of the time.. BUT I did enjoy watching LSU and FLA get beat this year.. THE SEC is not as far ahead of the rest of the conferences now.. For the record I liked A&M before they joined the SEC and always pulled for them against the oklahomos and longhorns.. Now that they are in the SEC I am torn.. They proved to be worthy and will be in the race for the west next season.. THANK GOD Bama has a freshman QB to lean on for a few years too..
volntitan
I think Bama wins solid. Not that they will blow out ND, but I think they get ahead and just wear down ND. Now I'm not a Bama fan. I just haven't watched ND near as much.

That does not help your recruiting or your team. I disagree about it not helping recruiting. I think ultimately it comes down to the BCS system and conference credibility. Success of your conference mates legitimizes your success in the NCAA where all success is not equal. If you are a one loss team, all of a sudden you want Alabama to be what Alabama is today, because performing well in such a conference looks good on you. Right now the SEC has untouchable credibility and this is in part thanks to teams like Alabama, LSU, and Florida posting a ridiculous run of championships. Similarly, there is much more of a regional aspect to rooting for a collegiate sports rival. The SEC in a sense represents the whole South and an entire style of football. In the NFL, where identities of teams are much more malleable.
WG53
No this is just an sec type thing. This is not how other regions are. Your rivals doing well and winning championships benefits them. No way in hell does Alabama winning again benefit UT in recruiting that is nonsense.

No way in hell does Alabama winning again benefit UT in recruiting thar is nonsense. Sure it does.. it gets the conference more money and is passed around. CBS has a contract with the SEC, it will be up for renewal soon.. You don't think other networks won't put in a bid on a conference who wins the championship every year. The more championships the SEC wins the better the conference as a whole will be.. Look at Vandy.. They got better coaching now and better recruits just from the success of SEC schools. They are able to build better facilities due to the money being passed around in the SEC.. They wouldn't make half the money if they were in the big east. Not every recruit can go to Alabama, LSU or FLA but they all still want to go to a SEC school so they get that big time exposure and it is a easier path to the next level pro ball.. So TN may get the guys GA or Bama didn't have room for..
