Dolphins traded up with Eagles a few years ago to grab Waddle at 6.   It's close enough and like the Bears , they had extra draft currency to deal with.

I could easily see the bears trading back into the top 5 to take Joe Alt. They took Darnell Wright last year, he plays RT. Alt would give them bookends to go with Caleb Williams. All on rookie deals. DJ Moore is more than adequate as a #1 WR.

Zero body control and hand coordination. He can catch the ball when he's wide open like he was at TCU, but he not only has the yips but cannot deal with the physicality of press coverage.

What they need to come out of with the 7th pick is either someone who can either shut down an edge rusher and allow the qb to function (LT) or a potential #1 WR who can dictate coverages as well as catching passes and score TD's.  They don't have anyone that you have to gameplan for.  No, counting on how many times you can take advanage and abuse the LT doesn't count.

I keep going back to the idea that if you don't grade Fashuna on the same level as Alt, and Nabors is also gone, then depending how you grade out Odunze you may look into trading down. It isn't my first choice, but I could see it happening. 

 

Now, if you grade out Odunze as having a similar trajectory as Hopkins and Alt/Nabors aren't there you run to the podium.

I'd also say this in comparison to the rest of the field (in their respective positions).  I mean if there's a huge gap between Odunze and WR4.  Then yeah he's the pick. Ditto Fashanu vs the rest of the LT's.

 

The more I watched Odunze the more you can see why some teams like him.  But I watched stuff from the other WR (ie the late 1st and second round guys) and I'm not totally convinced they wouldn't outproduce him either.   It's going to be interesting to see who they pick.

Nothing has changed for me since the day the season ended and the top of the draft order was set I still expect the pick to come from the quartet of Nabers, Alt, Fashanu, Odunze.

@titansfan said something interrsting that made me raise any eyebrow. He said he's intentionally setting up the corner and not running full speed because he doesn't have to. I was like that's a strange comment to make, but watching a bit more after he said that it's possible he's right. I don't see in any rep putting his head down and blowing the turbos. It's possible he has an extra gear. 

 

That was totally tangential lol, but I was thinking about it earlier and that video kind of solidified that he plays fully under control and it's likely how he's so good at tracking the ball.

Depends on how you grade Fashuna, but that's the 4 we are most likely dealing with. I don't trade away from any of them if I'm not getting a major haul.

He's smooth.  He kind of glides down the field. Try watching some of these other videos (especially Legette) they kind of struggle or don't look as natural.  That's the best I can describe it.

That's a good way to say it. It isn't robotic, but he's like clockwork in that he gets just enough separation. How that translates I'm not sure, but he has excellent body control and even if not what I would consider a technician, the way he treats corners he absues them throughout the process with the smoothness you mentioned. He kind of lulls you to sleep and then destroys you.

@rns90 go to the 1:30 mark on the double move fade. That right there is the difference between a guy like Coleman and Odunze. He makes it look effortless, but that is a tough route and he runs it flawlessly in a monsoon.

Hopkins is a good comparison. He kind of gets that last bit at the last sec it's hands but it's not totally obvious where it's OPI. And I guess getting burned by 500 WR busts over the years, it makes you watch WR differently now.  I disregard those plays where the WR is wide open via scheme or coverage busts. I mean literally anyone can score on those.  I watch if/how they get separation and what they do when the ball is in their hands and obviously the catching aspect.

Someone was talking about how his highlights don't really pop. That's because he isn't a great YAC WR in the mold of AJ or Metcalf. He's a guy that wins through the process and comes down with the ball. His excellent body control makes him more than a possession War though, because he can win deep and is a RZ nightmare for 1-1 coverage.

 

If I had one real critique it would be that he doesn't ever use that extra gear and I'm not sure if he's comfortable doing it. If you can unlock that gear and keep his other qualities then he's going to be a monster at the next level. You'll have to teach him the fine line between aggression and out of control. Think of Burks who plays completely out of control to hit the last bit of gear. Odunze is the opposite.
